About SOMA
SOMA was established by Vlad Kreimer, a radio engineer and a musician who lived in Donetsk, Ukraine, and later moved to Moscow, Russia, after war broke out in the city. Earlier Vlad made hi grade studio and audiophile equipment, as well as created unusual synthesizers and music equipment for his music project. After the demo for LYRA sparked the interest of the synthesizer community, he

has decided to start massive production of these synthesizers...

The philosophy behind the instrument was met with support and understanding by the musicians, which motivates to further create a line of electronic music instruments based on similar ideas and approaches.

SOMA instruments at the Abbey Road Studios ❤️‍🔥

Time to introduce one of the more experimental additions to our new gear collection…the SOMA Terra 🍃

More than just a synth, the SOMA Terra is an instrument built around a simple idea: bringing nature and technology together. Behind its minimal, solid wood design lies a remarkably deep polyphonic synthesiser capable of everything from delicate, organic tones to rich textures, atonal soundscapes and controlled chaos ✨

You may notice there is no traditional keyboard here… instead, the Terra features an innovative touch-sensitive playing surface that responds to pressure, velocity and movement, with built-in motion sensors and microtonal tuning accurate to 125 steps per semitone.

As well as the Terra, two other SOMA instruments can be found in the studios - the Lyra-8 and Flux 🔥

Already finding its way into the studios of some of the world’s most adventurous producers and composers, the SOMA Terra is redefining what a synthesiser can be. Ours is waiting for you in The Gatehouse 👀

Workshop recap: SOMA at THM Friedberg

Thank you to everyone who joined our recent SOMA workshop at TH Mittelhessen in Friedberg, hosted by Tim Kroker.

The session had an interactive format with plenty of room for questions, giving students the chance to work hands-on with our instruments and explore sound design and workflow in more depth.

Thanks to the team at THM Friedberg for hosting the session ❤️

Surgeon aka Anthony Child and PULSAR-23

In this video Surgeon plays PULSAR-23 at event during the 2022.

Surgeon has been connected to SOMA Laboratory since the early days of the company, and PULSAR-23 along with Rumble of Ancient Times have long been part of his live setup.

A couple of years ago we made a long interview with Surgeon for our Interview Project, talking about the Birmingham techno scene, his early experiences with sound, and his approach to working with instruments. The conversation still holds up today, since it was never about trends but about an approach to sound and creativity that hasn’t changed.

«I like using instruments which have a strong character, and when I use it, I’m trying to feel what the instrument wants to do and channel that.» — Surgeon on PULSAR-23

Full interview linked in bio.
