A little note on Mother’s day..

My daughters, when you used to point to your belly button and ask “What’s this” with a grin on your face, I always used to say
“belly button”,

but my heart says:
This is the mark on your body that connects me to you. It doesn’t fades with age. It will always be there to remind you that my lifeblood is your lifeblood. You are a part of me. You grew with me, you ate with me, you cried with me. I knew you before I met you, I loved you before I knew you.
So when you look down at your belly button, know that although you are out in the world now, roaming, learning, laughing being, you are still from me, you are still within me. An umblical cord no longer connect our bodies, but a love that cannot be cut Will always connect our hearts. Insha Allah

There comes an age where you stop remembering your mother only through what she did for you and start remembering what life must have been doing to her while she was doing it. You begin noticing the tiredness hidden behind routine, the fear hidden behind warnings, the patience hidden behind repetition, and the pressure hidden behind every
“normal” day she created for you.
Many mothers spent years carrying exhaustion so carefully that their children never learned how heavy their lives actually were.
They made survival look ordinary. They softened rooms they entered. They absorbed stress before it could reach their children. They continued showing up during phases where they themselves probably needed someone to hold them together.
And maybe growing up is realizing that some of the deepest forms of love were never spoken beautifully at all. They looked like reminders, sacrifices, waiting awake, constant worrying, postponed dreams, and choosing your peace over their own for years.
