Googleās March 2024 Core Update is here, and itās aimed at reducing spam and low-quality content.
The update, which started on March 5th, is already creating waves, with experts predicting that this will be āone of the big onesā causing disruptions and changes not seen since the Panda and Penguin updates. According to Search Engine Journal's Roger Montti,

The goal of the update is to tackle the misuse of SEO tactics that lead to poor-quality websites dominating search results.
The update focuses on four key areas:
Deemphasizing Links - Google appears to be reducing the importance of links in its ranking algorithm, reflecting statements from Google's Gary Illyes that links are not among the top-ranking signals.
Content Manipulation - A new addition targets content created solely for manipulating links, aiming to combat practices like Private Blog Networks (PBNs).
Outgoing Links - Google now explicitly mentions manipulative outgoing links as a factor it considers, penalizing sites that engage in practices like selling links to manipulate rankings. Google will now also consider low-value, third-party content produced primarily for ranking purposes to be spam.
Expired Domains - The update introduces a new signal related to expired domains, focusing on changes in domain usage. Sites repurposing expired domains to manipulate rankings will face scrutiny.
Google believes these changes will result in a substantial improvement in search quality, with up to a 40% reduction in low-quality and unoriginal content in search results.
