This 1966 Hofner 500/1 built in Germany has a few tales up its sleeve. It is after all, 55 years old.
It was previously owned by a renowned Serbian musician who was part of the Belgrade Philharmonic orchestra. A few years ago, after he got paralyzed from the waist down, he stopped playing.
His name is still stamped inside the original hardcase. “Slobodan Rakic”
This one is only a few years apart from Paul Mccartney’s very own Hofner 500/1 from 63’ used extensively with The Beatles and still to this day. This has the same pickups too, as in 1967 Hofner switched to a different style pickup on their 500/1’s: The “Blade” pickup.
All original parts from 1966. The neck is straight, the electronics are all functioning, and the intonation is excellent, which can be a problem with vintage Hofners, luckily not this one. No neck repairs either.
The previous owner replaced the tuners decades ago, but decided to put the original tuners back after two weeks, they haven’t been changed since then.
The original hardcase is included. It’s in pretty bad condition but functions well enough.
If only guitars could speak.
