DID YOU KNOW THAT 💡

During the pre-Hispanic period, the traditional inking in the Cordilleras celebrated the victories of men and beautified women. It was worn like a badge of honor by male warriors for protecting the villages from enemies and signified beauty and wealth in women.

Moreover, Igorot women were seen as equally strong figures in the community, showing that gender bias was less observed and that the Philippines has rich cultures, systems, and traditions even prior to colonialism.

Amazingly, this site used to be a fortress of the Japanese soldiers during the war until they received the letter ordering their surrender.

During the war, Gen. Yamash*ta was said to have moved from Jabangan to a spot on the mountainside accross the Asin River, and if the enemy came over to Mt. Puloy and attacked their base from behind, everything would come to an end.

In his memoir ‘Terraced Hell’, Tetsuro Ogawa, a Japanese teacher, recounted their hardships and ways of surviving and co-living with the Igorots whilst avoiding the native head hunters, guerillas, and the Americans.

He described the site to have innumerable rice paddies, narrow and in various shapes formed on the mountainside wherein beautifully curved lines of rice paddies broken here and there by small thickets of pines and tropical sunflower plants or by native huts that stood in clusters.

For Those Asking:

From Kiangan Town Center, continue towards Ambuliklik Rock 🗿. A few km uphill after Ambuliklik Rock, you will see a store and signage (refer to the Video). This was our entryway going to Puluy Hideout. It will take an average of 45 min to the viewpoint. Warning: expect muddy parts, especially this time of the year.

We started the hike at around 6 am and reached the viewpoint past 7 am ⏰

P.S. Follow health protocols. Leave no trace behind and bring your trash with you. Be responsible tourists! 🙅🏻

Accept, love, nurture, and improve yourself one step at a time 💃🏽

You are a different person to different people.

Annoying to one. Talented to another. Quiet to a few. Flawless to your lover. Stranger to some. Insecure to others. The best to your friend. The worst to your enemy. Someone to one. The one to another. Smart to a few. Daring to others. Difficult to a lot. Unknown to the rest.

Who you are is too vast to be classified by the state of your attitude, or categorized by the opinions of others.
How others see you isn’t as important as how you see yourself!

So love & accept the person you are.

Ending the stigma of success being measured by traditional “successful” career choices is a start to building a community where we truly support our children’s passions and dreams.” - Ogcurate
