Building the Mound.
Large logs are placed at the base of the mound, followed by smaller branches and twigs, and then a layer of compost and soil.

Decomposition: As the wood decomposes, it releases moisture and nutrients into the soil, improving its structure and fertility.
Nutrient Cycling: The decaying wood supports a thriving fungal network in the soil, which creates acidic conditions and provides essential nutrients for plants.
Water Retention: The wood acts like a sponge, absorbing and slowly releasing water, which helps to keep the soil moist and reduces the need for irrigation.

Did you know that banana trunks are great for soil building and can also be composted quickly if you chop them and put them in the compost pile and use them as “mulch”
