▪️Arabica (Coffea Arabica) beans tend to have a sweeter, softer taste with tones of sugar, fruit and berries. It has lower acidity than Robusta and lower caffeine content which is 0.8-1.5% than Robusta which has 1.7-2.5%.

▪️Robusta (Coffea Canephora) has a rubbery, bitter, grain-like flavor which leaves a dry after taste. Robusta has a harsh, bitter flavor due to its high concentration of caffeine and chlorogenic acid and lower sugar content. It has more caffeine compared to Arabica. It has 1.7-2.5% caffeine content, almost double the 0.8-1.4% of Arabica. It has higher acidity than arabica.

If you like high acidity, light body, high caffeine, and like to enjoy the flavor characteristics of the varietal's region then pick the light or medium roast. If you like smoky bitter taste of coffee with low acidity, low caffeine and full body then go for the darker roast.
▪️Excelsa is said to possess a tart and fruity body. It is a member of liberica family. While it has a similar taste to Robusta, Liberica is even stronger and has a smokey aroma. It has a slightly lower caffeine concentration than the two most popular coffee types (Arabica & Robusta).
