One of my most promising career paths is to become a career coach and lecturer for a Guidance NGO focused on education. Our mission is to provide tailored-fit solutions to learners, especially Junior High School and Senior High School students, in preparation for choosing the right college programs and schools. We aim to guide students toward institutions that provide quality and efficient education based on the ABC principle — Accreditation, Board Passers, and CHED Citations.

Our advocacy is to help learners choose college programs not only based on passion, but also according to their skills, competencies, personality, and intellectual strengths. Many students enter courses simply because they like them, without understanding the qualifications and demands required for long-term success. Through proper guidance and assessment, we want to help students make wiser and more realistic decisions about their future careers.

For example, becoming an Information Technology professional requires not only passion for computers, but also strong logical thinking, problem-solving skills, patience, and analytical ability. Likewise, students interested in engineering should possess mathematical and technical skills, while those inclined toward arts and communication should have creativity, emotional expression, and communication abilities. Our goal is to help learners discover whether they are naturally inclined toward the sciences, arts, business, technology, education, or public service.

As a career coach and lecturer, I also had the opportunity to conduct seminars and educational talks in several schools and institutions in Negros Occidental and nearby areas. These include schools such as La Salle Bacolod, St. Benilde School, St. John’s Institute, LCC Main, LCC Gardenville, St. Joseph LaSalle, Bacolod Trinity Christian School, Shiloh School, Jack and Jill School, Riverside College, La Salle Psychology Students, UNO-R Talisay, STI-WNU, Don Bosco Victorias, the students and altar servers of Gardenville, Maranatha School Sta. Fe, and Bacolod Christian School. These experiences allowed me to inspire students, share practical guidance about career planning, leadership, education, and personal development, and better understand the needs and struggles of young learners.

I want to inspire students to understand their potential, develop confidence in their abilities, and avoid choosing courses that may not match their strengths and personality. We also aim to educate parents and communities about the importance of career guidance, mental preparedness, and educational planning.

Through seminars, workshops, personality assessments, and mentoring programs, our hopes to produce future professionals who are competent, passionate, and well-prepared for the challenges of higher education and employment. We believe that proper career guidance can reduce college dropouts, course shifting, unemployment, and frustration among young people. Our vision is to help build a generation of learners who pursue careers with purpose, competence, and dedication to society.

An Unexpected Encounter With Young Survivors of a Fire Disaster

I was driving around Bacolod and passed through a small street where, just few days ago, a fire burned down 27 houses. As I slowly drove by, I saw some young boys, around 11–12 years old, comforting someone who was crying.

I stopped for a moment, slightly opened my car window, and asked, “Who made him cry?”

One of the boys suddenly exclaimed, “It’s Tito Bimby!”

I was surprised because I did not recognize them at first. Then they came closer, held my hand, and asked for my blessing. So I blessed them, and only then did I realize these were the same children I had once treated to dinner and given rides to a basketball event.

One of the boys looked at me and said, “I can never forget you, even when I grow old.”

I smiled and asked him if he knew the Ten Commandments and the Seven Sacraments. To my surprise, he answered quickly and perfectly. He was one of the victims of the fire — their whole house and belongings had been burned, leaving them with nothing. Yet despite everything, there was still hope and a beautiful smile in his eyes.

The organic expression of gratitude from these children truly tickled my heart. It reminded me that even the smallest act of kindness can leave a lasting mark on someone’s life.

As I drove away, I silently prayed that God may bless and protect them as they stay in their temporary shelter — an open gym now serving as their home after the fire. May the Lord provide for their needs, comfort their hearts, and give them strength to rise again from this tragedy.

I simply smiled, said goodbye, and told them, “God bless you.”

“And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is My disciple, truly I tell you, he will never lose his reward.” — Matthew 10:42

“Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” — 1 John 3:18

“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.” — Matthew 5:7

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2

How a Young Boy’s House Was Spared from Two Fires 🚒🧯🧨🔥

A 14-year-old boy named Simba was brought to me by one of his friends. Interestingly, “Simba” in Filipino refers to the Holy Mass, and he was born during the beginning of the Novena Dawn Masses in the Philippines from December 16–24 in preparation for the Birth of Christ.

They live in a poor community, and as part of one of our missions, we gave him basketball shoes because he was playing for a local basketball club.

Since then, he has joined us every Sunday in attending the Traditional Latin Mass and even promised me that one day he would become an altar server.

Some time ago, a fire struck their community, yet their family was spared. After the incident, Simba helped clean the area and was able to collect some copper wires, which he sold to earn money. Instead of spending it for himself, he gave the money to his mother to buy food and help with their household needs.

Last week, one of his friends sent me a photo of them attending Flores de Mayo, the month-long catechism and Marian devotion held every May in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The following day, I saw on social media that another huge fire had engulfed their community. Immediately, I thought of Simba and his friends. Soon after, I received a message saying that they were safe and still remained positive despite the tragedy around them.

Then yesterday, Saturday, they joined me in attending the Holy Mass as an act of thanksgiving for sparing their house from the fire. They shared that nearly 27 houses surrounding their home were consumed by flames, yet their small house remained untouched.

Reflection:

In a world filled with uncertainty, suffering, and trials, stories like this remind us that God never abandons those who seek Him with sincerity and faith. The devotion of these young children to the Holy Mass, especially the Traditional Latin Mass, and their love for the Blessed Virgin Mary through Flores de Mayo are powerful reminders that grace quietly works in hidden ways.

Many may see this only as coincidence, but faith teaches us that prayer, devotion, and trust in God invite heavenly protection and spiritual strength into our lives. The Blessed Virgin Mary, our loving Mother, continually intercedes for her children, especially for the poor, the innocent, and those who faithfully draw near to her Son in the Holy Eucharist.

The preservation of their home amidst a devastating fire became for them a testimony of hope, gratitude, and faith. More importantly, it showed that even in poverty, a soul rich in prayer and devotion possesses treasures far greater than material wealth.

May this story inspire more families to return to prayer, attend Holy Mass faithfully, honor the Blessed Virgin Mary, and teach children to trust in God. For where there is faith, there is grace; where there is prayer, there is protection; and where Jesus and Mary are welcomed, hope will always remain alive.
