One of my most promising career paths is to become a career coach and lecturer for a Guidance NGO focused on education. Our mission is to provide tailored-fit solutions to learners, especially Junior High School and Senior High School students, in preparation for choosing the right college programs and schools. We aim to guide students toward institutions that provide quality and efficient education based on the ABC principle — Accreditation, Board Passers, and CHED Citations.
Our advocacy is to help learners choose college programs not only based on passion, but also according to their skills, competencies, personality, and intellectual strengths. Many students enter courses simply because they like them, without understanding the qualifications and demands required for long-term success. Through proper guidance and assessment, we want to help students make wiser and more realistic decisions about their future careers.
For example, becoming an Information Technology professional requires not only passion for computers, but also strong logical thinking, problem-solving skills, patience, and analytical ability. Likewise, students interested in engineering should possess mathematical and technical skills, while those inclined toward arts and communication should have creativity, emotional expression, and communication abilities. Our goal is to help learners discover whether they are naturally inclined toward the sciences, arts, business, technology, education, or public service.
As a career coach and lecturer, I also had the opportunity to conduct seminars and educational talks in several schools and institutions in Negros Occidental and nearby areas. These include schools such as La Salle Bacolod, St. Benilde School, St. John’s Institute, LCC Main, LCC Gardenville, St. Joseph LaSalle, Bacolod Trinity Christian School, Shiloh School, Jack and Jill School, Riverside College, La Salle Psychology Students, UNO-R Talisay, STI-WNU, Don Bosco Victorias, the students and altar servers of Gardenville, Maranatha School Sta. Fe, and Bacolod Christian School. These experiences allowed me to inspire students, share practical guidance about career planning, leadership, education, and personal development, and better understand the needs and struggles of young learners.
I want to inspire students to understand their potential, develop confidence in their abilities, and avoid choosing courses that may not match their strengths and personality. We also aim to educate parents and communities about the importance of career guidance, mental preparedness, and educational planning.
Through seminars, workshops, personality assessments, and mentoring programs, our hopes to produce future professionals who are competent, passionate, and well-prepared for the challenges of higher education and employment. We believe that proper career guidance can reduce college dropouts, course shifting, unemployment, and frustration among young people. Our vision is to help build a generation of learners who pursue careers with purpose, competence, and dedication to society.
