Just finished reading it ๐
work's been eating up my week but I'm glad I found pockets of time to allot for reading! โบ๏ธ
This read was really apt given the magnitude of work I've had to bear the past few months- it talks about how challenging, painful, and unpredictable life may be, but it's all part of a bigger and more meaningful journey.
I guess my biggest takeaway is to savor each moment. We'd often hear this but to actualize it takes a lot of focus and discipline. Experiencing every moment as it happens is what makes it more felt and enjoyable. We're too bombarded with distractions that we always have to have music playing, or Netflix streaming, while we're eating and doing everything else- and that robs us of the enjoyment that we can experience if we just pause and really take the moment in.
I have been trying to do the mindfulness exercises that the book prescribed, and it's really made my mind more at ease โบ๏ธ For example, when I eat, instead of watching tv, I just, well... eat! I take my time chewing the food, feeling it's texture, and savoring the flavors. And though it's been the same old food we'd prepare at home, it somehow made my meals more delicious and filling. And the same awareness and mindfulness exercise can be applied to your other experiences as well!
The practice has been really helpful to keep my anxieties at bay and made me feel happier and in the moment โบ๏ธ and I would really encourage you guys to do the same โค๏ธ
Life may be imperfect, but it's in our hands to make the journey worthwhile โบ๏ธ
