Next time you're at The Base, make sure to check out the incredible four-metre-long tukutuku Matariki artwork on display in Te Awa. Created over Matariki in 2023 with the help of our community, this special piece is inspired by traditional tukutuku - an artform of weaving traditionally done by Maaori around Matariki.

The artwork shares a unique Matariki narrative from the Waikato-Tainui Waka and incorporates taonga that are meaningful to both Tainui and The Base.
