Technical Racing NZ Technical Racing will get your motorbike suspension sorted, with upgrades, to wholesale sales we do it all

20/01/2026

It's been quite the journey for me (Tim) running Technical Racing for the last 7 years. What went from revalving a mates shock, ended up being a significant amount of R&D, multiple national championships won by our riders, and many many bikes being upgraded along the way.

This is the end of the road for me personally, however the good news is I have sold the business (including stock, tools, dyno etc) to two very passionate motorcyclists, Dennis Charlett and Dan Jenkins. Dennis and Dan are keen to continue the progress we have made and will be continuing all the lines of work I had been doing. They have already been training with me to ensure the service standard remains high.

I became very short on time, but Dennis and Dan will be dedicating significantly more time to this, so should be easier to deal with!

For me, this is over and out. I will be transferring the website, Facebook and Instagram over to Dennis and Dan in the next few days, so I'm sure you'll see a lot more activity going forward.

Thanks for being part of this journey
Tim

We often get asked why we change fork bushings often when 'the shops never do' More so on off road bikes, some dirt makes it through both the dust and oil seals due to the lip direction of the seal (to hold oil in) naturally the thing directly inside the seal is the soft teflon coating of the lower (outer) fork bushing which then gets this dirt stuck in it which is very abrasive..

This then wears score lines into the chrome fork tube with the movement of the fork, which will eventually cut the lip of the fork seal. If not rectified this will then cut the new seal also. Total cost of a few hundred to save $40!

Don't be the owner of this!

Off Road forks should be serviced every 40-50 hours and shocks every 80-100 depending on the type of riding they do.

Road race forks should be serviced every 10 days racing, and shocks every 20

They don't have oil filters like your engine, so once there are small amounts of metal in the oil like the above picture, the wear rate increases rapidly, and often the fork tubes, or shock body will wear out costing high hundreds to replace. Just because theyre not leaking doesn't mean they're healthy!

We have service spaces available next week, so book yours in now!
