Round 5 of the NZ Sports Car Racing Championship was held over the weekend at the NZIGP Spirit of Anzac meeting at Taupō International Motorsport Park.

In a combined field of 18 cars alongside Formula Racing NZ open wheelers, the fastest car of the weekend was Tim Edgell in the Albany ITM Radical SR10, taking out 3 wins from 3 starts across the two days of racing.

Tim also lowered the NZ Sportscars track record in Race 2 with a sizzling 1:24 lap time around the demanding Taupō circuit 😮‍💨

Radical cars dominated the NZ Sportscars Open Class, filling the top four positions. Steve Sharp finished 2nd, our Aussie visitor Matt Powell came home in 3rd, and Tony Hembrow secured 4th in his Radical SR8.

We now look ahead to Round 6, the final round of the 2025/26 series, at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park on May 16–17, for an exciting finish to what has been a fantastic season 🎉🏁

Radical SR10s lock out the Top 4! 🔥🏁

A dominant weekend for the team at Round 2 of the NZ Sportscars Racing Championship at Manfeild.

Just like Round 1, Tim Edgell (Albany ITM SR10) set the pace all weekend. A technical issue took him out of Race 1 while leading comfortably, but he came back flying, winning Races 2 & 3, including a huge 20-second margin in Race 3. 💨

Matt Powell (AUS SR10) kept building speed at only his second NZ meeting, scoring 2x P3s + P2, earning him the overall round win.

Right behind, Steve Sharpe (Hansen Products SR10) claimed 2nd overall, with Tony Hembrow rounding out the Radical SR10 Top 4 after another strong, consistent weekend.

Another incredible performance from the Radical crew, well done team!

Next stop: Round 3 back at Manfeild in late January.

Radical is back!

This weekend, we’ll see the cars out at Manfield for Round 2 of the NZ Sports Car Racing Championship.

Tim Edgell in his Albany ITM Radical SR10 totally dominated R1 of the NZ Sports Car Racing Series held at the MG Classic meeting at Manfield last month. In the process, Tim also broke the long standing Sports Car track record.

Steve Sharpe in his Hansen Products Radical SR10 took out 2nd place for RI with another fast and consistent 3 races.

New comer to the series, Matt Powell from Australia adapted well to the faster Radical SR10 after racing the SR3 in Aussie. He showed good speed towards the end of the weekend and he looks like being potentially a front runner this weekend for Round 2.

For the 2025/26 the Formula cars have also joined the series. This means a full feild of over 20 cars in the feild which led to some great close quarter racing right through the field.
