1. I'm super sensitive to perfumes, especially strong ones like what the Bissell brand cleaning solution smells of 🤮 I can't stand it. Figgy's Home Cleaning Castile Soap is fragrance free. It's beyond wonderful cleaning with the fragrance overload

Clean dishes without the extras? Yes, please!

The amount of gross chemical waffle you'll find in dishwasher powder, pods, sheets, and rinse aid is enough to turn your off your meal.

❌️Finish dishwasher powder has 30-40(!) ingredients depending on the exact product.

❌️Typical rinse aid is made of surfactants to stop water beading.

Using some now and saving the other half for later is a great tip I first learnt from my dear old granny!

🔪 Other fabulous reasons to cut your soap (These are from me, not Joanie!)

You can't decide what room to keep your soap in - kitchen or laundry?

👉 You know where I'm going here! Have half in each ⚡️ boom twice as much cleaning with zero moving your bar around!

You're off on holiday, you lucky thing!

🏝 Stash half a bar in your luggage for cleaning your smalls and any pesky stains that crop up. Now you can do a quick hand-wash and keep on seeing the sights!

Long-lasting soap, don't waste any

👉 How you store your soap makes a big difference to how long it lasts. Leave it sitting in a puddle will soften your soap. Mushie bar soap will get used up faster. That'll definitely shorten its lifespan.

I make the most of my soaps by storing them in a blockdock holder in the shower and at the laundry sink.

In the block dock, they stand up so the water drains off the soap, and it also keeps them dry between uses. We've stock them in the Figgy shop under accessories.

Here's how to make the cleaning mix:
Add 1-2 tsp of Home cleaning castile soap per 500ml tap water into your refillable mop container + 6-10 drops of EO if you are adding them.

Our mop is from Bunnings, it's a Sabco Super Swish - and you can also get extra cleaning pads too. We've used it for about 5 years with 2 pads on rotation and it hasn't missed a beat!

5ml might not seem like much cleaner to add. But our soap is made to be concentrated and little really goes a long way! Along with being a powerful clean, its also safe to use on any type of floor.

😬 You might be worried about losing nice warm air, but honestly, you've GOT to let that damp old air out!

Stale air is like bad house hygiene.

Trapped moisture from showers & cooking plus VOCs off gassed from products and furnishings both pollute your home air and give mould the chance to grow 😱

📍Here's 3 easy steps to refresh your air, think of it as a healthy home prescription:

✔️open 2 or more windows
✔️for 10 or more minutes
✔️do it every day

✅️ 2+ windows are key. This allows cross ventilation where a flow is created. Fresh comes in one window, and old is forced out the other.

🤑 But I've had my heater on, what about all my nice warm air?

🧐 The cost of heating is eye watering, that's fore sure. Because of this, studies have been carried out in NZ by BRANZ, who do independent building research here in NZ.

Their studies show that opening windows in winter for 10-15 minutes has many benefits for refreshing the air inside your home while NOT decreasing the room temperature overall.

How's that? Well, your home has residual heat & won't cool down by letting that stale air escape for a few minutes. 👉 but your home and the air you breathe will absolutely be healthier ✨️

Adding Essential Oils to your cleaning creations up the game with additional cleaning power and gorgeous natural scents (no hormone disrupting fragrance here thank you)

By blending different oils together you can create a signature scent for your home.

Let's get out the oils and blend them like we are a contestant on the Great Kiwi Bake Off. 👩‍🍳

💦 Use 6 drops of Rosemary and 2 drops of Tea Tree in sprays or pastes to clean away mould in your bathroom and kitchen

💦 Add 5 drops of Lemon and 3 drops of Peppermint to sprays and laundry powder for a zesty yet cool scent that will refresh your home and clothing

💦 Use 4 drops of Lavender and 4 drops of Lemon in your sprays, homemade foaming soap and for wiping surfaces in your bedroom and you'll create a calm haven that's a joy to be in

💦 Add 5 drops of Lemon with 3 drops of Tea Tree oil to your sprays and any mould you have growing will be wiped away easily, add it to your laundry powders for a fresh scent

💦 Use 6 drops of Tea Tree and 2 drops of Peppermint in your bathroom cleaning pastes and sprays, plus it will naturally keep ants and other bugs away

At Figgy, we want to make it easy for you to choose plastic free packing to reduce your waste.

Brown paper bags aren’t the sexiest packaging out, but we aren’t here for looks... 🤭

We're here for impact – the kind that does the least harm to us or the environment 😍

All our DIY supplies are packed and sent in actual paper bags.

❌️ These aren't those paper looking bags with sneaky plastic liners

✅️ These are old-school brown paper bags.

100% paper, 100% plastic free!

Even the ink stamp we use on them is plant based.

🤓 So you might be thinking, what's the trade-off for not using plastic in our packaging?

Well paper bags aren't air-tight, and you can't leave your powders in them forever.
 
This means, when your DIY cleaning goodies arrive, you'll need to move them into a labelled air-tight glass jar or container.

That's all.
