Gizmo RC, New Plymouth (2026)

A website is on its way, and plans are big, but that means alot more work getting the back end systems running perfectly.

The site is live from gizmorc.co.nz.

Still a long way to go to get the site to how I would like it, but some great progress over the last few weeks, since I got the site hosted. So far over 8,500 products listed, more to come. Some products still don't have images, and once I list a new item, images and additional info are added normally that night in an automated script. Some items are still in wrong groups, and I still need to change some and expand some groups. My list of bug fixes and improvements is still very long, and a lot you won't even notice when using the site.

If you have any suggestions or something doesn't work, please let me know.

You may notice RC Maker and Inov8 brands listed, and we are going to be the NZ Distributor. We will be looking to do an order soon, but unfortunately, no kits are available at present.

The site went live this morning; however, it is currently on an IP, and not directed to gizmorc.co.nz, but can be accessed by the IP address. It is also behind a username and password. There is still a lot to do now that it is in a live environment, such as move it to the domain, setup the email alerts as I could not do the intended live setup until it's on the domain, check the account creation and flow, do some test payments, and then move to the production keys for the card payments. And then all the back-end scripts for updating everything need to be migrated across and tested.

Here is a preview of the website, main product page with filters and sort, a product page, and image preview. Cart and checkout are built, some testing for checkout is still needed to finalise credit and debit cards. Lots of bug fixes in the filters and sort functions today. Main page is still a work in progress, then all the content pages to work on, and some ideas that may be there at launch, depending on how much work is involved. Customer account creation and log in pages and the confirmation and orders emails are working, they just need to be visually improved. Still so much to do, but some great progress recently. The big job will be the conversion from my home server to a VPS for hosting so you can all see and start using the site. Also, there may be a big announcement in a few weeks...............

Here is last nights sync run. This is the notification I receive each morning after my Python Script runs to update my system with new, and updates to existing stock items from one of my suppliers. That number of 24,825 updated items is correct. Although I probably won't have their full stock list on my site at launch, I'm prepping the back end system to have them all there and ready to go. The whole process is automated from stock item creation, including full product info including description, images and pricing, I just have to manually check and publish to the website, but that may eventually be added to my script.
