Just sharing some news with you all. Things are changing at The Captain's Quarter Gallery. After Managing and Curating this beautiful space for the past three and a half years, I will be moving on to new challenges at the end of next week. I have loved all the conversations I have had with you all - artists, locals and regular customers from across the region. I have learnt a lot about the art world and will continue to use this knowledge to support my husband with his art. Best wishes to you all and thanks for your support over my time at the Gallery 🥰

This gorgeous, moody abstract landscape painting is arriving in the Gallery this week from Chris Deidrichs We love how she captures light and texture with her pieces. Some areas are indistinct, so that the viewer can explore, imagine and interpret shapes and patterns. This original acrylic on canvas is priced at $1850 and measures 120cm x 75cm.

New Ceramic Happy Cows have arrived in the Gallery today from talented Potter, Renate Galetzka Renate originally was inspired to create these for an exhibition, after seeing real cows sranding in the mud, looking very sad after just being de-horned. She decided to go back to her studio, make molds and give them their horns back - guilded ones no less. This is why they are called Happy Cows. These have been really popular and there are new designs we have not had before - the Daffoldils and the Sprinkles are so cute! Grab one now before they all go!

Amy Hoedemakers is a talented Artist from North Canterbury who paints captivating abstracted landscapes in oils. The latest to arrive in the Gallery are a set of 3 small Tondos -20 x 20cm. These pieces have silver leaf, together with oil paint which adds a luminous quality to the scene. More of Amy's work can also be seen in the Gallery on stretched canvas.
