🚛 Full speed ahead in Moerdijk.
Demand for wood pellets is exceptionally high this season, both domestically and internationally. Normally customers can collect or have their orders delivered almost immediately after payment. With 8,000 tons of bagged pellet storage we are always well prepared, but due to the sustained demand in recent weeks, trucks are sometimes being loaded directly from the production line, as shown in our video 🚛.
We see daily requests for all kinds of pellets in bulk or bagged from countries such as Italy, Germany, France and Ireland and keeping up with all of them has been both a pleasure and a challenge. Nothing we can’t handle, but it does require flexibility from us and our customers🤝.
But one may ask: why is demand suddenly so high? Several factors play a role, from the growing sales of pellet stoves for households to larger retail chains ordering bagged pellets as well. Yet two main drivers stand out:
1. More factories are switching from fossil fuels to pellets to drastically cut CO₂ emissions 🌱.
2. Stricter regulations are making it harder for illegal logging to gain a foothold in Europe 🤝 .
Both are good developments, but especially the second one gives us a lót more paperwork! While preparing for upcoming EUDR-regulations, we are already fully compliant with Better Biomass and RED II certifications, keeping sustainability firmly embedded in our operations 🔒.
The question we must ask ourselves now is:
Is this a temporary wave or are we already facing the new normal? And do we just need to order more bagging robots? 😉
