Celebrating not only 9 years of Pure Kakaw, but also the Re-Opening of Mahara and the Kakaw Bar on May 5th.

We are super grateful for the community we've been building over the past 9 years. Thank you for your trust and curiosity. For asking where your cacao comes from. For caring about the hands, the soil, and the story behind every cup. You've helped us build something we're really proud of.

We are looking forward to celebrate the next years with you and cannot wait to share, co-create and spread our passion for this beautiful nectar with you.

Looking forward to the Ademcoach Live dag at May 29th. Nikki brings many breathwork professionals together in her network and this day is to also gather live, learn more whether you're a professional of just very interested in breathwork.

We will share cacao again for everyone and look forward to be there. Last year was fantastic with a great group of people.

WOAH… 9 years of PURE KAKAW 🎉
And we for sure want to celebrate this with you.
What started as a simple passion to bring pure cacao to the Netherlands, sharing it with family, friends, and loved ones… has grown into something so much bigger.

From the very beginning, Erik knew that this is not just your typical hot chocolate. Pure cacao is a way to connect, with yourself, with others, and with something deeper.

Over the years, PURE KAKAW has grown into a company rooted in long-lasting relationships with farmers, honouring every step of the journey; from the soil where the cacao grows, to the cup that hold your hands.

And that’s something worth celebrating together.
We’re offering 10% off everything on our website for one week.

Use the code: [9YEARSOFPUREKAKAW] and feel free to share it with your loved ones.

As you know we believe in honest pricing rather than a discount culture. So this comes from a place of gratitude, giving, and celebration.
With love 🤎

First bite, pure connection. Not many of us have the opportunity to enjoy the taste from a freshly opened bean.

Visiting our cacao farms is a journey, where nature, the trees, and the hands are all part of the story behind our cacao. Erik has been building relationships with farmers in Guatemala, Peru, Nicaragua & Mexico closely for many years and continues to revisit whenever possible.

straight from the farm to your cup. 🌿

Our cacao moments can look different for every single one of us.

⬖ Is someone preparing it for you?
⬖ Are you making it yourself?
⬖ Are you enjoying it in- or outdoors?
⬖ Are you creating a special moment to connect with the drink or is it a routine?
⬖ Are you drinking in silence?
⬖ Are you sharing it with beloved ones?

Maybe the preparation becomes a small ritual, with intention, presence, and care.

There is no perfect way, we often feel pressure to make rituals more special than they need to be. But the truth is: the most beautiful connection happens when it feels natural and effortless to you.

So let your cacao moment be simple, real, and yours. YOU DO YOU! :) Knowing that every way is welcome, as long as it’s your way and it comes from the heart.

SPRING RE-OPENING – KAKAW BAR x MAHARA🍫
Spring is the perfect time for fresh (re)starts… and we’re celebrating it together with the re-opening of Mahara, which has undergone lots of changes. On MAY 5TH we would love to welcome you to our favourite hang-out, with an upgraded Kakaw Bar, an extended assortment and more.

So cacao cheers to a cozy afternoon of cacao, connection, community, and music. We will share cacao and offer some activities in the yurt. As we know our community is blessed with many creative beings, feel free to bring instruments so we can co-create, share our voices, exchange stories, and simply connect over a cup of cacao.

DATE: May 5th
TIME: 16:00 - 20:00
LOCATION: Mahara, De Clercqstraat 123, Amsterdam

FREE, but please REGISTER through link in bio so we know how much cacao to prepare. Around 18:00 there will be optional homemade soup for a small contribution.

✨ Come as you are, connect, and enjoy the space. We look forward to celebrating these beautiful shifts together

Why we call her Mama Cacao.
In many Indigenous traditions of Central and South America, plants are approached with respect and relationship. Rather than seeing them as objects or ingredients, they are understood as living teachers or allies within nature.
Cacao is often referred to as “Mama Cacao”, due to her nurturing, heart-centered presence; offering nourishment, grounding, and calmness.

Many cacao lovers experience exactly that: supportive & grounding. She can soften the body, help the nervous system settle, and create a space where emotions and insights can rise more naturally.

That’s why, for many, drinking ceremonial cacao becomes more than just having a beverage. It becomes a small ritual of pausing, listening, and reconnecting with yourself.

So sweet reminder to notice what it brings up for you, when you connect with your cup

What began as a limited edition over a year ago was received with so much appreciation from you that we are happy to have made it one of our regular origins.

Cahabón Cacao comes from the lush region of Alta Verapaz in Guatemala.

The cacao variety used for our Cahabón is known as Acriollado, a blend of Criollo with Trinitario.
It offers a beautifully aromatic and full-bodied profile, with notes of nutty chocolate, blackcurrant, and subtle berry tones, followed by a soft, warm finish.

We’re excited that this variety has quickly found its place in our collection, and in many of your homes.

We are so happy with our cacao frother and happy to see you are too!
Traditionally cacao drinks were prepared with a layer of foam, which opens the aromas and of course looks beautiful on the eye.

Our small frother has a powerful engine to easily mix and foam your cacao drink. You can also easily foam milk for a cacao latte, golden milk or cappuccino on the go.

We use it ourselves in our kitchen because it's so easy to use, charge and clean. Or we take it with us for traveling, camping and going into nature.

Cacao cheers to this handy gadget

MOTHERHOOD & CACAO

As our community grows, so do the questions we receive around cacao and motherhood. We recently published a blog post covering the scientific and research-based side of it. But we also wanted to give space to the lived experiences. We had the honour to go into conversation with 3 mothers from our community: Lidewij, Liv Stig, and Eline, to learn more about their personal journeys with cacao during pregnancy and motherhood.

The overall outcome was: Intuition is key, while the first trimester often asked for a break of the cacao routine, during the coming stages of pregnancy re-introducing cacao was a beautiful way to manage fatigue and create a moment of calm.

What they adjusted were the preparation of cacao, the dosage, being less strict on routines and just surrendering to what the body and the growing fetus was asking them to do. Overall lower doses, more grounding ingredients like ghee, and a focus on how your body actually feels.
