Amsterdam has some wonderfully strange street names.

From Oude Nieuwstraat (Old New Street) and Nieuwe Nieuwstraat (New New Street), to Gebed Zonder End (Prayer Without End), Onbekendegracht (Unknown Canal), Spooksteeg (Ghost Alley), and Dubbeleworststeeg (Double Sausage Alley).

Some names tell you exactly what used to be there. Others raise far more questions than they answer.

Myth: Amsterdam is not a good destination for kids.

It is easy to see where this comes from if you only picture the nightlife or the busiest parts of the city centre, but that version of the story is incomplete.

Amsterdam is actually one of the most family-friendly cities in Europe. Parks are everywhere, neighbourhood playgrounds are easy to find, and getting around by bike or public transport is simple.
