When it comes to exportation of agricultural produce like maize, yam, Cassava etc, it's usually not about the size.
At the international market, what customers look for is beyond sizes. There are more critical requirements like quality, portability and quantity.
Your exportable crops must meet market criteria before it can go through.
That's where and when improved crop varieties comes in. That cob of maize, how portable is it for packaging? How many of such cobs can enter into a given packaging material in a given weighing scale? What is the quality? Is it nutrient enriched or it's from the same seed source that your ancestors planted?
When next you consider going into crop production or it's value chain, consider the varieties of the crop and the source.
The export market has standards.
