14/31 DAYS CHALLENGE
I HAVE THE BEST STUDENTS
Another beautiful day to brag about my student and how much of an amazing teacher I'm.
For each day that comes, these kids tend to surprise me(of course in the most positive way you can ever imagine).
We are in our revision week, and instead of doing it the usual way I decided to tweak it a bit.
And what is the spice I added? I switched positiond with my students, they became the teacher while I became the student.
Benefits? Helps my student get a very clear understanding of the topic and help them gain total mastery of it. Do back to the gist π€£
My little pumpkin surprised me again. Her intentionality and attention to details just makes me so emotional. I always feel like my younger self is speaking to me.
I learnt a whole lot today. Oooh yes, I know it's what I taught her but please, she deserves her flowers πΊπΉ
As I prepared the lesson notes, there were always questions after each topic. But what this little sweetheart of mine did that amazed me and left me almost crying during the class was that, after asking me those questions, she goes back to the SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES and asks me whether I think I have achieved/learnt what I'm supposed to know from the topic.
The moment she did that, I just froze for a few seconds and her voice jilted me back to reality. At that point, I felt like screaming, crying, jumping and hugging her(but it's a virtual class so that's not possible),I really felt a different kind of way honestly.
Wondering why I'm so emotional right? I would have thought the same thing if I were in your shoes but if you've ever being in a situation like mine, like watching your student or your child perform such excellently even beyond your imagination, you would definitely understand my feelings.
From my experience so far, I think we should sometimes give our kids the room to express themselves.
As a teacher (whether virtual or physical) give the student the opportunity to show their skills, strength and weakness. Let's sometimes switch to student - centered method of teaching and learning rather than just focusing solely on the teacher - centered method.
These children are smart and can do exploits but that's if we give them the opportunity.
