Ever walked into a book store to buy books for your Children and you were confused?

Several books neatly arranged on the shelves , all reaching out to you shouting pick me, pick me, pick me but you are lost on the best one to choose for your Child?

Trust me this happens to the best of us.

With the millions of Children books out there, it can be quite a Herculean task choosing books that your Children will love, because doing this can be a step in the right direction towards raising Children who love to read.

Every once in a while, I receive dms, chats and messages on Parents enquiring what kind of book they should buy for their babies,toddlers,preschoolers,preteens and teenagers so as I encourage Parents to raise readers, I want to make the journey easy for you by sharing what you should consider before buying book for your child.

📙WHAT TO CONSIDER BEFORE BUYING BOOKS FOR YOUR CHILD📙
◽Choose books that are age appropriate

◽Choose books that are inline with the values , ethos, morals that you are promoting at home.

◽Choose books that are in the area of interest of your Child per time.

◽Choose books of Characters they love or individuals who they might have heard of...(fairy tales, legends etc)

◽Choose books that are colourful, have good illustrations and are durable especially if you are buying for younger Children.
( For toddlers and preschoolers, board or hardcover books will last longer than paperback books)

◽Look at the overall design of the book including cover,size, illustrations,colour

◽Choose books according to your Child's personality trait or personal preference. If your Child is adventurous, choose books with adventurous and intriguing themes and if your Child is laid back choose books that are easy reads.

◽If your Children are old enough to make decisions, get them involved in the selection process.

Be sure your bribe or gimmick isn't counter productive.

it's way easier (as difficult as it may seem now) to get a child to imbibe the habit of reading on their own (not school books) than it is to do same for a Teenager or Adult, think of that when you get weary, think of the pedestal you are putting them on when you get discouraged.
Nothing good just happens without serious effort. 🙏🙏
