Currently watching Run Away on Netflix and wow… the parents really got to me.
The way the dad and mum fought for their child showed the real meaning of “never give up on your child.” This wasn’t an easy child to love. She struggled with drug addiction, made terrible choices, and constantly pushed them away, yet they never stopped fighting for her.
Honestly, there were moments I wanted them to pause and focus on their other two kids. I kept thinking, what about the children who are doing well? Then that Bible verse came to mind, about the shepherd who left the ninety-nine to search for the one. Suddenly, it all made sense.
At first, I found myself praising the dad alone. His persistence, his sacrifice, his constant pursuit stood out. But as the story unfolded, I began to see the quiet strength of the mum. Her sacrifices were not loud, but they were deep, painful, and just as powerful. She carried burdens that were unseen, yet essential.
This series reminded me that parenting is not about having perfect children. It is about unconditional love, endurance, and choosing not to give up, even when it hurts, even when it feels unfair.
The kind of parent I hope to be someday. One who never gives up on their child, no matter what.
