*The Bamboo That Refused to Grow*
A young man once went to a farmer and said,
“Sir, I’m tired. I’ve been working, praying, trying… but nothing is working. My life is not moving.”
The farmer smiled and said,
“Come, let me show you something.”
He took him to a piece of land and pointed.
“Do you see this place? I planted a special seed here.”
The young man looked and said,
“But there’s nothing here!”
The farmer laughed.
“That seed is the Chinese bamboo.”
He continued:
“For one year—nothing.
Two years—nothing.
Three years—still nothing.
Four years—you will think I’m foolish.”
The young man shook his head.
“Then why keep watering it?”
The farmer replied:
“Because something is happening… under the ground.”
He paused, then said slowly:
“In the fifth year, that same bamboo will suddenly grow… and in just a few weeks, it will become taller than every tree around.”
The young man was shocked.
“So all that time… it was not wasted?”
The farmer smiled:
“It was building roots strong enough to carry the height.”
“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” — Galatians 6:9
Sometimes, you feel like nothing is happening:
Your efforts look invisible
Your prayers seem unanswered
Your growth is not obvious
But just like the bamboo… God is working underground.
“Though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not delay.” — Habakkuk 2:3
If you stop now, you lose everything.
But if you stay consistent…
“They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength… they shall mount up with wings as eagles.” — Isaiah 40:31
Your season will come.
“Don’t compare your ‘under the ground’ season with someone else’s ‘above the ground’ season
