FACTORS TO BE CONSIDERED BEFORE INSTALLING YOUR NEXT PLUMBING PIPES.

The followings are factors that should be carefully considered before installing pipes:

1. Size: It is important to choose pipes that are appropriately sized for the intended use to ensure that they can handle the required flow of water without becoming clogged or restricted. If the pipes are too small, they may not be able to handle the demand, leading to low water pressure or blockages. On the other hand, if the pipes are too large, they may be more expensive and may be more prone to damage due to their increased size and weight.

2. Material: Different materials are suitable for different applications, and it is important to choose the right material for the intended use. For example, PVC pipes are commonly used for drain lines and are not suitable for use with hot water, while copper pipes are resistant to corrosion and are often used for water supply lines. Other options include galvanized steel, PEX, and brass. Each material has its own benefits and drawbacks, and it is important to consider the specific needs of the project when selecting a material.

3. Location: The location of the pipes should be carefully considered to ensure that they will be accessible for maintenance and repair. Pipes that are buried deeply or installed in hard-to-reach areas may be more difficult and costly to repair if they become damaged. It is also important to protect the pipes from physical damage, such as by burying them at a sufficient depth or installing them in a protected location.

4. Climate: The climate in which the pipes will be installed can also be a factor. For example, pipes in a cold climate may need to be installed with additional insulation to prevent freezing, while pipes in a hot climate may need to be protected from overheating.

5. Water quality: The quality of the water that will be carried through the pipes should be considered. Water with a high pH or that is excessively hard can be corrosive and may require the use of pipes with special coatings or materials. It is important to choose pipes that are compatible with the specific water conditions in the area.

6. Building Codes: It is important to ensure that the installation of pipes complies with local building codes and regulations. These codes may specify the required materials, sizes, and installation techniques for pipes, and failure to comply with these codes could result in fines or other penalties.

7. Budget: The cost of the pipes and installation should be considered when planning a piping project. It may be necessary to balance the need for durable, long-lasting pipes with the available budget. It is important to choose pipes that offer a good value and will provide long-term performance without breaking the bank.

ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT PLUMBING PIPES

Plumbing pipes are pipes that are used to transport water, gas, or sewage within a building or home. They are an essential part of a plumbing system and are used to deliver these essential services to different parts of a building.

Proper installation and maintenance of plumbing pipes is important to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of a plumbing system. This includes using the correct size and type of pipes for the specific application, sealing joints properly to prevent leaks, and regularly inspecting pipes for any damage or wear.

TYPES OF PLUMBING PIPES

There are several types of plumbing pipes that are commonly used in buildings. These include:

1. Copper Pipes: Copper pipes are durable and resistant to corrosion, making them a popular choice for both hot and cold water plumbing systems.

2. PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) Pipes: PVC pipes are a type of plastic pipe that is commonly used for cold water plumbing. They are inexpensive and easy to install, but they are not suitable for hot water systems.

3. PEX (Cross-linked Polyethylene) Pipes: PEX pipes are a type of flexible plastic pipe that is commonly used for both hot and cold water plumbing. They are easy to install and are resistant to freezing and bursting.

4. Galvanized Steel Pipes: Galvanized steel pipes are made of steel that has been coated with a layer of zinc to protect against corrosion. They are commonly used in older buildings and are not as popular as they used to be due to the corrosion that can occur over time.

5. Cast Iron Pipes: Cast iron pipes are made of cast iron and are commonly used in drainage systems. They are durable and long-lasting, but they are also heavy and difficult to work with.

6. ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) Pipes: ABS pipes are a type of plastic pipe that is commonly used for both hot and cold water plumbing. They are lightweight and easy to install, but they are not as durable as some other types of pipes.

A Comprehensive Guide to Choosing the Right Water Closet for Your Hom🏘🏘🛖

If you're in the market this new year for a new water closet, or toilet, you might be feeling overwhelmed by the sheer number of options available.

From traditional two-piece models to modern one-piece designs, there's a toilet for every taste and budget. In this comprehensive guide, we'll cover everything you need to know, to choose the perfect toilet for your home.

First, let's start with the basics.

A water closet is a plumbing fixture that is used for the disposal of human waste. It consists of a bowl that is connected to a waste pipe, which leads to the sewage system or a septic tank. Toilets can be powered by gravity, in which case they rely on the weight of the waste and water to flush it away, or they can be pressure-assisted, which uses pressurized air to push the waste out of the bowl.

When shopping for a toilet, there are several factors to consider, including flushing performance, water efficiency, and design.

○ Flushing Performance: The main function of a toilet is to flush waste away, so it's important to choose a model with a reliable flushing system. Toilets are rated based on their MaP (Maximum Performance) score, which measures their ability to clear solid waste.

A MaP score of 1000 or higher indicates a high-performing toilet, while a score of 500 or lower means the toilet may struggle to flush effectively.

○ Water Efficiency: Toilets are one of the biggest water users in the home, so it's important to choose a model that is water efficient. Look for a toilet with a high WaterSense rating, which means it has been independently tested and certified to use 20% less water than the federal standard without sacrificing
performance.

○ Design: The design of a toilet can make a big difference in the look and feel of your bathroom. One-piece toilets, which have the bowl and tank fused together, are a popular choice for their streamlined appearance.

Two-piece toilets, which have a separate bowl and tank, are also a popular option and tend to be more affordable.

○ Another design consideration is the height of the toilet seat. Comfort height toilets, which are about an inch taller than standard toilets, may be easier to use for people with mobility issues or those who are taller.

○ Other features to consider when shopping for a toilet include the type of seat (plastic or wood), the location of the flush handle (on the side or on the top), and the shape of the bowl (elongated or round).

By considering these factors and doing your research, you can choose a water closet that meets your needs and fits your budget.

Heads Up Everyone!

Would you like to conserve water at home, thereby reducing cost?

Water conservation is an important issue, and using plumbing materials that are designed to conserve water can help reduce water usage and save resources.

There are a number of plumbing materials that can help with water conservation and they include:

Low-Flow Toilets: These toilets use less water per flush, which can help reduce water usage in the home.

Water-Efficient Showerheads: Showerheads that are designed to use less water can help reduce water usage in the bathroom.

Dual-Flush Toilets: These toilets have two flushing options, one for solid waste and one for liquid waste. This can help to conserve water by using less water for liquid waste.

Tankless Water Heaters: Tankless water heaters heat water on demand, rather than storing hot water in a tank. This can help reduce energy usage and water waste.

Gray Water Systems: Gray water systems recycle water from showers, sinks, and washing machines for use in irrigation or other non-potable purposes. This can help reduce water usage and save resources.

If you’re the type that loves having hot showers after long, tiring days, then it's time to learn about the various types of water heaters, which is probably the most hardworking device in your house.

Tankless water heaters, as the name suggests, do not have a tank where the water gets heated. They are among the most efficient. This is because they heat large amounts of water quickly. There is usually a constant supply of hot water for use. Instead, there are coils that get super-hot when filled with water, giving you instantaneous results.

Tankless heaters come in different sizes and the size you pick should be based on your needs.

Tankless heaters can run on both gas and electricity; the smaller ones generally run on gas while the larger ones run on electricity —your energy needs will vary depending on the size and source of power of your

HOW TO KEEP YOUR STAINLESS STEEL, STAINLESS!

Stainless Steel is probably the most popular choice in bathroom and kitchen accessories.

However, if you own stainless steel appliances, you probably know that they are hardly ever Stainless. Dust and dirts may put stainless steel appliances at risk for rusting.

Nonetheless, the following simple and cost effective methods can be a life saver!

■ VINEGAR AND OLIVE OIL

For effective cleaning, you need to understand the direction of the dirt.

Get two clean towels, preferably the one with 100 percent cotton. Apply your Vinegar to it or spray directly on the stainless surface. Let it sit for some time, then wipe with the cotton cloth, while minding the direction of the dirt.

Dab the rag with olive oil and polish the cleaned stainless surface. This method works perfectly, since the Vinegar helps to remove all stains and the olive oil gives your stainless a perfect shine.

■ CLUB SODA

Gently spray club soda on the stainless surface and wipe in the direction of the stain. Then wipe with a clean cotton cloth.

This is effective in removing fingerprints and food residues from your stainless k***s or handles and leaves it with a poshy shine.

■ LEMON OIL FURNITURE POLISH

Apply lemon oil to a clean cotton towel and rub on your stainless appliance. Once it has been evenly applied, wipe clean with a different towel.

It is not ideal to apply the furniture polish directly to the stainless steel surface, as it may not be evenly applied, thereby leaving you with more work trying to clean off the excess.

■ WATER AND CLOTH

This is the least risky option for cleaning stainless steel. Plain water works in most situations. Dry with a clean cotton cloth to prevent water spots. This is critical because minerals in water can leave deposits on stainless steel.

■ COMMERCIAL STAINLESS CLEANER

If your appliance has stains, scratch or needs a thorough polishing, a commercial cleaner designed for stainless steel is another option available to you, but also likely the most expensive.

In general, start with the basics and work your way up from there as needed.
