‼️ Either Jonathan David or Lois Openda
will stay at Juve. Spalletti wants two genuine, physical, ruthless centre-forwards. Two finishers who simply convert the numerous chances that Juve have learned to create in the final third. But at the same time, he knows the club cannot overhaul the entire attacking department. Especially if Vlahovic - as it currently stands-were to move elsewhere.
The coach, in fact, remains convinced that David's link-up play could prove useful to him over the course of the season. Provided he does not have to deploy him 'out of position' - that is, alone at the centre of the attack - where David has repeatedly shown he cannot cope with even the slightest physical contact.
As for Openda, one need only look at his playing time over the last few months of the season: a mere five minutes across the 27 league matches. And to think that Luciano has given him plenty of chances, even resorting - when necessary - to strong-arm tactics, with those light slaps he gave him before he came on against Napoli.
But it goes without saying that it will be the others who call the shots. Or rather, the transfer market. In this sense, David would allow Juve to record a substantial capital gain on their books, but at the moment (rumours aside) there do not seem to be any clubs particularly interested in signing him. The situation is different, however, for the Belgian. Rennes have been tracking him for some time; fresh from qualifying for the Europa League, they are on the hunt for players to bolster their attack.
