How did you manage breastfeeding after maternity leave?

When I had my first baby and I had to go back to work after maternity leave, the first week was a miserable one for me😫

I kept feeling bad that I wasn't physically able to breastfeed my child, you know that "looking in their eyes while you breastfeed" feeling, that special connection you get when you hold your baby, I didn't really get to do that and that also contributed to my bout with postpartum depression.🥲

I can totally relate with both images and I am here to say that whether your baby gets breast milk from the bottle or from your b***s, you are doing well!👌🏽

There is absolutely nothing wrong with feeding baby with formula while awaiting the establishment of your milk.

My personal experience with breastfeeding was not fun at all. It was very uncomfortable but I didn't mind much. Brian used to nurse a lot and everyone around me made me believe I wasn't producing enough breastmilk. I wanted to do exclusive for 6 months, ended up doing for just 2weeks and moved on to combining formula due to pressure and fear of losing my baby to dehydration. The nonsense things new mums are told 😩.

I know a lot better now.

Reposted from Raise your hand if your period came back and affected your milk supply!
Reposted from Believe it or not you’re not alone. Many women notice a dip in their supply around the time Aunt Flo decides to pop in. Some women also experience:

✨Nipple tenderness
✨Baby may want to feed more frequently due to the dip in your milk supply.
✨Baby may want to feed less, as your baby may detect a slight change in taste of your milk during your period. (Totally normal)
✨Baby may be more fussy at the breast.

What can I do to compensate for this temporary dip in milk supply? ⤵️

✨Let your baby nurse as they want. If baby is not wanting to nurse, you can include a power pumping session.
✨Take a combination magnesium and calcium supplement (500-1000mg a day) from the beginning of ovulation until the 3rd day of your period to minimize the drop in your milk supply.
✨Increase your iron during your period with iron-rich foods such as oatmeal :)
✨You should be doing this already, but eating a well balanced meal and staying hydrated helps with milk production.
✨Take a herbal supplement such as Moomysmilk Milk Boost, which is meant to help increase milk supply. If you are using the supplements strictly for the time of the month, start during ovulation, and continue use until your period ends.
✨Use your hands — while nursing or pumping you can use breast massage to encourage milk flow.

We cannot overemphasize this! Please take care of your pump parts so they can last longer for your use.

Reposted from Breastmilk has antiseptic, antimicrobial and antibacterial properties.

Everyone knows about the nutrititional and immunity boosting benefits of breast milk and yes beyond this it offers many more relief for baby's such as eye infection, ear infection, cuts, burns but definitely not a cure it all therapy and it's not medically proven.

There's a reason why it's labelled liquid gold...

When in doubt always see your doctor.

What have you used breast milk for other than feeding your baby.......
