The year is ending today, and I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a merry belated Christmas. And to also appreciate you all for your patience and support.

This year might not have been the best year for so many of us—me included, but we are grateful in hopes that 2026 would come with something better. More peace, more inspiration and more of good health.

Our story will continue next year by God’s grace.

Step into the new year with gratitude, starlights, because just as our name says, we are reaching the stars in 2026.

🗡️BOYS ARE DISTRACTIONS🗡️

003.

Two Days Later…

“I’m gonna miss you, Dad!!!” Lyra cried, holding Bryce like he would disappear if she left him.

Isadora, on the other hand, was too excited—all she wanted was to leave already. Naya walked forward and embraced her. Isadora smiled, hugging her back. “I’m gonna miss your chocolate cookies, Aunt Naya.”

Naya smiled and ruffled her hair. “I’m going to miss you girls too, baby. But if it makes you feel any better, I will get them delivered to you girls whenever I make them,” she leaned in to whisper this one. “I’ll ask Charlotte to also make a few for Cee.”

Isadora beamed. “I love you.”

Naya kissed her forehead. When Lyra finally left Bryce, she rushed in to have a group hug with Isa and Naya.

Dominic arrived with luggage for Isadora, a gesture that made the girl roll her eyes and groan. She knew her father had packed those princess ball gowns she didn’t like. She was actually happy with one suitcase. “Seriously, Dad,” she facepalmed, and Lyra chuckled.

“You might need them,” Lyra commented.

Isadora just shrugged. She walked to where Dominic stood and hugged him. “I’m going to miss your constant nagging and overprotectiveness, Dad,” she wrapped her hands fully around him even though they didn’t actually fit. “But most of all, I’m going to miss you.”

Dominic felt like she was leaving him forever. If she had let him, they wouldn’t have stayed at the dorms. But Isadora already promised to behave. Now that she was going, he couldn’t help being emotional. “My little moonfire,” he kissed her forehead. “I will miss you more. Please stay out of trouble.”

“You got it!” Isadora gave him a salute.

“And please,” he held her hands and gave her a serious look. “No one must know your real identity, okay? They mustn’t know you are the daughter of the Moon Goddess. No matter what happens, keep your appearing powers hidden.”

Isadora nodded. He’d been telling her this for two days now, and her ears were starting to bleed from listening to it too much. “I understand what’s at stake if they know, Dad. You gotta trust me, okay?”

“I trust you,” he gave her a small smile. “It’s them I don’t trust.”

“I’ll be fine,” she assured him.

Dominic pulled Lyra in for a hug as well, and it took all the willpower he had to finally let them enter the car. When they were in and out of the palace gates, Lyra couldn’t control her tears anymore.

Isadora couldn’t help laughing. “Why are you acting like we’re going to our husbands’ houses? It’s just school, and it’s only a two-hour drive from the palace.”

Lyra fanned herself with her hand dramatically. “I know, but we’re staying at the dorms, remember? Which means we aren’t going to see our parents until after the semester is over or if there is an important event in school. I’ve never been away from home that long, Isa,” she sighed. “I’m nervous… and scared.”

Isadora moved close and hugged her. “You don’t have to be. You have me. I will not allow anyone to bully or scare you.”

Lyra smiled, feeling a little better. “I have to admit, I’m also excited. Royals Academy has the most gorgeous men,” she beamed with a dreamy expression on her face.

Isadora simply chuckled and shook her head. Lyra’s constant mood swings weren’t shocking anymore. The girl could be angry one minute, and the next minute she was talking her ear off about boys. She didn’t understand what their deal was with all this boy stuff. The ones she’d come across back at the pack were sights for sore eyes, coupled with their disgusting attitude and the feeling that the world revolved around them.

And she didn’t even want to get started on the ones her father had set up dates with.

Just thinking about them made her want to chew her fingers.

“Isa?” Lyra called, and she hummed. “What if you find a boy you like at Royals Academy? Will you date him?”

Isadora scoffed. “That’s not possible. I have no time for boys, Lyra. All I want to do is train, learn, get my powers, and finally fulfill my destiny. Boys are distractions.” She rolled her eyes.

Lyra clicked her tongue like she was trying to imagine something. “I’d like to find my Prince Charming.”

“You read too many fairytale books, Princess,” Isadora sneered. “This is reality.”

****

They arrived at the dorms, and while the room was being set up for them, Lyra was too excited that she dragged Isadora out so they could have a tour of the place. Isadora smiled as she looked around. Royals Academy was indeed magnificent and beautiful. It looked like something straight out of a fairytale, and even though it was a school for training and grooming, it didn’t look like that from the outside.

She’d read about it, but seeing it in person filled her with joy and excitement. She couldn’t wait to go on adventures and discover new places.

“This place is huge, Isa!!” Lyra exclaimed, twirling while Isadora smiled and watched her.

They got to the volleyball court, and while Isadora seemed uninterested, Lyra gushed as she looked around, especially at the boys who were playing.

“Wow, I had no idea they do sports here too. I thought it’s going to be strictly training, you know,” Lyra commented.

“See? That’s why I asked you to read the books, but you called them boring.”

Lyra faced Isadora. “That’s because they are boring,” she grimaced. “Who wants to read the history of a school when they could just read novels with happy endings instead?”

Isadora laughed, but it was short-lived because, in a split second, she saw the ball flying toward Lyra. Before Lyra could blink, Isadora was behind her, catching the ball before it could hit her best friend. Lyra turned, her eyes wide with shock.

Isadora frowned. “Hey! Watch where you throw the ball!” she snapped.

The boys turned, and one of them walked toward her to take the ball. Her eyes widened when she saw him, her heartbeat picking up. He was… he looked so good. His golden-brown hair caught the sunlight in a way that almost looked unreal, every strand seeming like it was spun from gold itself. His eyes, a deep emerald green, locked with hers, and for a moment, she forgot how to breathe.

There was something unsettling about his gaze—it wasn’t just that it was piercing, it was that it felt like he could see straight through her. His jaw was sharp, the kind carved from stone, and his posture screamed confidence without him even trying.

“I—sorry about that,” his voice was smooth, low, and steady, carrying an effortless charm as he stopped in front of her. “Didn’t mean to almost take your friend’s head off.”

He extended his hand, palm open, waiting patiently for her to drop the ball into it. Isadora blinked, still holding it tightly like she hadn’t realized she was clutching it. Slowly, she placed it in his hand, her fingers brushing against his briefly.

“Thanks,” he said simply, flashing her a small smirk that made something strange twist in her stomach. He tucked the ball under his arm. “See you around.”

And just like that, he turned and walked back to his friends, shoulders relaxed and stride confident.

Isadora remained frozen, her eyes still fixed on his retreating form, while her heart betrayed her with its erratic rhythm.

Lyra, of course, didn’t miss a thing. She leaned closer, lips curling into a mischievous grin. “What was that you said about boys being distractions?” she whispered teasingly, her eyes glinting with amusement.

Isadora shot her a glare, but the faint heat creeping up her neck betrayed her far more than words ever could.

This was supposed to be two chapters, Starlights, but I've been so busy and my brain is literally fried. This is one of my favorite stories, and I don't want to just write it anyhow.

I want to focus and actually write so that I'll give you all the best. Updates of two chapters will resume once I get the hang of the story.

🗡️THE SNAKE PET🗡️

002.

ELEVEN YEARS LATER…

“I’ve told you time and time again, Isa. You can’t keep a snake as a pet,” Dominic said with an exasperated sigh as he strode down the hall while Isadora rushed after him, determined to make him change his mind.

“But, Dad, it’s not dangerous. She's just a baby. I've wanted her since... forever.”

Dominic stopped in his tracks and Isadora slammed into his back, but he didn’t flinch. He slowly turned to look at her, his expression softening at the sight of her pouted lips and puppy-dog eyes. Those unique violet orbs that always drew him to their depths. She knew that was his weakness, and the stubborn rebel would do anything to utilize it.

But he couldn't stop himself from worrying. Especially now that she wasn't going to be under his watch anymore.

“You're leaving for Royals Academy in two days, sweetheart. You've already convinced me to allow you to stay at the dorms while promising to come see me every weekend. How do you expect me to allow you to take a snake to school, huh? They're poisonous even to us wolves.”

Isadora bit down on her lower lip. “You know I'm immune to snake poison, Dad.”

“Doesn't stop me from worrying too.”

“Dad, please.” She took hold of his hands and began swinging them, her eyes glistening. “Have I ever let you down before?” she asked, her voice cracking.

Dominic covered her hands with his. “My sweet girl, you know I'm really proud of you. I just can't stop worrying about you,” he murmured. For years, he couldn't stop remembering the prophecy Selene had told him about.

After Ares escaped—they haven't found him till now—Selene had gone with the rest to look for him. Though she comes to check on Isadora once in a while, she hadn't really given him a full explanation. But from what she told him, he knew it wasn't anything good. And since then, he's been extra protective of her, even though the moon bracelet was doing its job perfectly.

Isadora smiled at him. “I'll be fine. It's a celestial snake, so it's not gonna hurt me.” Her smile widened. “I was the one who broke the seal that kept it bound, Dad. It sees me as its master. It would protect me instead. Oh, and look, I already have the moon bracelet.” She raised her hand and wiggled it in his face.

Dominic couldn't stop himself from laughing. He loved her so much. “Alright,” he surrendered. “I'll give you a chance. But if you notice anything off, contact me immediately, okay?”

She nodded with a bright smile, stood on her tippy-toes, and pecked his cheek before running off while screaming, “Thanks, Dad. You're the best.”

When she entered her room, Lyra was already waiting for her there. The minute she noticed Isadora, she rushed to her and grabbed her shoulders. “What did he say? Tell me he said yes,” she urged.

Isadora smirked, her eyes dancing with mischief. “Not until you give me that hair clip I've been dying to take from you for months.”

Lyra rolled her eyes and flipped her ash-brown hair confidently. “No,” she answered.

Isadora groaned and glared at her. “Fine, I'm still gonna tell you.” She hurried to her wardrobe, and her face lit up when she saw the white snake, curled into itself with a protective shield around it, sleeping soundly. She picked her up like she was the most fragile thing in the world and beamed at Lyra. “He agreed for me to keep her!”

Both girls shrieked in happiness, their noise waking the innocent creature up. Its violet eyes opened, and Isadora couldn't contain her excitement. She'd read about the snake when she was six years old and was told that whoever could break the seal was capable of taking the snake and becoming its master.

She recalled how two huge bears had tried to attack them and smiled. Memories. Now she was seventeen years old, and it still felt like yesterday.

“Oh, I can't wait to see the Alpha's face when he realizes that you've actually had Cee—” Yup, they actually named the snake Cee. “—and have been secretly taking care of her for two years now. Thanks to the remnant of your powers, you sure hid her well.”

“Shhhh.” Isa placed her index finger on Lyra's mouth to shush her. “He doesn't have to know that. In fact, he wouldn't have ever known if we weren't leaving for school in two days.” She sighed and plopped down on the couch in her room.

Cee curled into herself on Isa’s lap and made herself comfortable.

Lyra sat down as well. “What do you think Royals Academy is like?”

Isa massaged her temple. “Oh, it's amazing, alright. They train people to become Alphas and even send them on missions and competitions. Plus, kids from different packs and royal backgrounds will be coming this year. It's surprising you're asking me this, though. Our parents went there. Didn't Ma'am Naya tell you any stories about them?”

“Mum has been busy lately. The only story she tells me about Royals is that she met my dad there and all that mushy stuff.”

Isadora laughed. “She still tells you that?”

Lyra facepalmed. “Believe me. My ears are bleeding.”

Isadora threw her head back and laughed. “You should be happy you even have a mother who bores and annoys you with stories. Mine isn't always around. I know she's probably busy doing goddess stuff, and I understand. I'm not complaining though. I love her... so much. And she always tries to make time for me whenever she is free, but sometimes, I wished I could spend a whole week with her without her attention being needed at the realm,” she exhaled. “But it's cool. That's one of the perks of being the moon goddess’s daughter.”

Lyra smiled. “I guess you're right. And I'm sure when all this is over, you two will finally have time.”

Isadora smiled. “Yes. I can't wait to see her on my eighteenth birthday though. It's just six months away. I will finally have my full powers.”

Lyra chuckled. “You're talking like six months is a week away.”

“That's what it feels like to me. For eleven years I've only done meditations and secretly learned sword fight. Sometimes, I want to feel the adrenaline pumping in my veins as those powers flow through me. On the bright side, I have also learned not to rely heavily on them. So, I'm gonna be responsible about it when I get them back.”

“Uh-huh.” Lyra rolled her eyes.

Isadora suddenly remembered something and jumped to her feet. “I forgot to tell you.” She wiggled her eyebrows at her friend, who already knew what was coming.

Whenever Isa wiggled her eyebrows like that, it was either the lady was about to make her go on an “adventure” that might threaten her life or force her to learn sword fight.

If she was asked to choose between both, she would choose neither, because both were things she didn't like. She preferred tea parties and burying her face in a good book to all these adventures.

“I found this giant cave while I was strolling yesterday—”

“Strolling?” Lyra shot her a knowing look.

“Maybe I wasn't strolling, but I did find a cave. I couldn't check it out because Dad needed my attention, but I'm guessing there are crystals in there. Why don't we check it out, huh?”

Lyra shook her head immediately. “No, thank you. I'll hit the library while you go on your adventure.”

“Come on, it's gonna be fun,” Isadora whined. “Even Cee agrees with me.”

“Yeah, sure. I'm not agreeing to anything Cee agrees to. There's no difference between the both of you,” she pointed at them.

Isadora chuckled.

“And we need to pack. We have tons of things, princess.”

“No, you do.” Isadora shook her head. “I'm not into all these ball gowns and stuff. I'll just take a few clothes I might need and voila, I'm ready to go. You, my friend, might need a pickup truck to help convey your things to school.”

“Come on, they aren't that much.” Lyra chuckled.

Isadora rolled her eyes instead.

---

••UNKNOWN LOCATION••

The place was debris—a remainder of what had been destroyed. The air was thick with the stench of blood, corpses lying flat on the ground. And he stood... in the middle of it all, his hand clutched to a scepter he had taken from the place he'd just destroyed.

For eleven years, he had sought this. For eleven years, he walked through every realm like an invisible and untouchable force, leaving dead bodies and blood in his wake, just for this. For eleven years, he'd nursed this grudge—this suffocating grudge that was tearing him apart. For eleven years, he patiently waited to finally put an end to this madness.

The people had put up quite a fight, but he wished they knew he was a formidable opponent. His eyes darted to the man, who sat on the floor struggling to channel healing into his body, but failed. His body and inner energy had been destroyed down to his power core, making it impossible for him to even summon his powers.

“Pathetic,” he roared.

He would have killed the man, but he had one rule: Kill and destroy everything but leave someone alive to tell the story.

He turned away and took one last look at the scepter.

Everything was complete. The only finishing touch now was the moon blood.

He chuckled. “Her blood.”

🗡️ARES HAS ESCAPED🗡️

001.

“Isadora! Wait up! I’m afraid of the dark,” six-year-old Lyra complained, her voice trembling with fear as she rushed after six-year-old Isadora.

Isadora snorted. “Come on, Lyra. Don’t be such a princess. It’s just a tunnel. I’ve been to places worse than this one,” she replied, rolling her eyes at how scared her bestie was of darkness.

Lyra heard a low growl and shrieked, running to catch up with Isadora. “Don’t you think we’ve come far enough? I think we need to return home now. Our fathers will be worried sick.”

“Oh, please,” Isadora snickered. “We are almost there. We can’t go back now,” she said, holding up her torch as she made her way out of the tunnel. She smiled, but her happiness was cut short as she came face-to-face with two giant bears.

Lyra finally made her way out, but when she saw the bears towering over them, she screamed and quickly hid behind Isadora, her body shaking with fear. “We’re gonna die, Isa! We shouldn’t have come here.”

“Shhh, they can smell fear,” Isadora shushed Lyra before looking up to meet the gazes of the ferocious bears staring down at her, their tongues running over their mouths like they had seen the most delicious meal ever.

Isadora wasn’t the least fazed by their growls. But Lyra had already wet her panties out of fear. The bears, seeing that Isadora wasn’t showing any signs of fear, became even more infuriated. They snarled at her, their eyes glowing with a menacing yellow light. Isadora, however, just stood there, her hands on her hips and a smirk on her lips.

“Isadora, we need to go! What if they attack?” Lyra whispered, but Isadora didn’t flinch. Nothing was going to stop her from finding what she was looking for.

“I’m not scared of them,” she whispered back, never taking her eyes off the bears. “And I don’t think you should be, either.”

Lyra shook her head, tears gathering in her eyes at the thought that if she stayed here, she was going to be bear food. She was sure they’d make a sandwich out of her. What if they ate her raw, tearing her limb from limb? What if they made a barbecue out of her? Terrified, she screamed and took to her heels, causing the giant bears to go after her.

Lyra’s screams echoed through the forest as she sprinted, her tiny legs doing little to take her as far away from the bears as possible.

“Isa! Help!” Lyra screamed.

Isadora muttered under her breath and went after them. “Lyra, stop running!” she yelled.

“Are you crazy?” Lyra screamed, increasing her pace while the bears growled behind her, causing the hairs on her skin to stand. She let out another shrill scream.

“Oh Goddess, help me!” Isadora exclaimed and suddenly felt her powers course through her. She disappeared, reappearing in front of the bears.

“Stop right there!” she roared, her eyes burning a bright gold as she raised her hands.

The bears stopped in their tracks, confused and wary of Isadora’s sudden display of power. They growled, their stance shifting, ready to attack.

Isadora shook her head, a smirk still playing on her lips. “You’re not going to hurt my friend. You’re not going to hurt anyone.”

As she spoke, a gust of wind began to swirl around her, picking up leaves and twigs. The wind grew stronger, causing the bears to back away, their eyes widening in fear. Lightning crackled in the sky, thunder booming as if the very heavens were obeying her command. The winds began to form a funnel, a whirlwind that surrounded the bears, forcing them to keep moving back.

Isadora focused on her powers with her eyes shut, and the whirlwind hurled the bears into the distance, far away from her and Lyra. She was about to give one last blow when a gentle but firm voice interrupted her.

“Isadora, enough.”

Isadora’s eyes snapped open, and she turned to see her mother standing behind her. Selene’s eyes shone with a soft, lunar light, and her presence seemed to calm the air around them.

Isadora felt a wave of obedience and immediately dissipated the whirlwind, banishing the bears from the area. She took a deep breath, feeling her powers settle back into place.

Selene approached her, a warm smile on her face. “You’re getting stronger, Isadora. But you must learn to control your powers and to use them wisely. You almost killed those bears.”

“I’m sorry, Mother.” She lowered her head, taking a deep breath. “But the bears wanted to hurt Lyra. I couldn’t think of what to do. I became angry and…” she trailed off. “…that happened.”

Lyra, still shaken, emerged from the trees she had hidden in, her eyes wide with wonder. “Isa, your powers… they’re amazing!”

Isadora smiled, feeling proud of herself, but on the inside, she feared the kind of powers she possessed. This wasn’t the first time she had almost lost control.

“I understand, sweetie,” Selene smiled, taking her hand. “But you know”—she tucked a strand of Isa’s red hair behind her ear—“there is a way you can stop them without hurting them. I’ll teach you that soon.”

Isadora nodded with a smile.

“Can you teach me too?” Lyra asked excitedly, and Selene pecked her cheek.

“Come, let’s return home. We have much to discuss, and your father will be worried.”

Isadora nodded, and together, the three of them began walking out of the forest.

*•*•*•*

|GOLDEN SWORD PACK|

“Isa! Isadora!” Dominic called as he walked around the palace, looking for the little girl who wouldn’t sit her tiny butt in one place. This was the third time she’d left the palace walls without telling him today. Currently, the Golden Sword Pack was at war with the Wild Fire Pack, and the last thing he wanted was Isadora getting ambushed. But the little princess was very stubborn.

“Where could she have gone again?” He ruffled his hair, sucking in a breath.

“Gone missing again?” Bryce asked as he approached Dominic, who nodded with a sigh.

“For a little girl, she sure has a lot of energy. She disappears without warning and appears like a ghost—not to mention how super strong she is. She is just six years old!” Dominic snapped, throwing his hands in the air.

“And the daughter of the Moon Goddess,” Bryce added with a smirk. “Her mother is a divine being. Are you expecting her child to be a normal wolf?”

Dominic sighed. “She is a hybrid, Bryce. That’s why I’m more worried—plus this feud between us and the Wild Fire Pack.”

Bryce brushed it off. “She will be fine. I’m sure she and Lyra are having fun.”

“If she doesn’t bully your daughter, that is.” Dominic began walking away, and Bryce followed, chuckling softly.

“C’mon, they are best friends.”

They got to the garden, and Dominic’s eyes widened when he saw Selene seated on the swing with Isadora sleeping soundly on her lap.

“Daddy!” Lyra called, rushing to embrace Bryce, who bent to her level and pecked her cheek.

“Moon Goddess,” Bryce bowed with a mischievous smile.

Selene looked up and rolled her eyes, but that didn’t stop her from smiling at them. Dominic smiled back as he approached them. When he got there, he kissed her on the lips.

“You are back early,” he smiled.

Selene chuckled. “Well, someone almost killed two huge bears today. I have no idea what she was doing in their territory, but Artemis wouldn’t have taken it lightly.” They laughed.

“I’ll take her inside.” Bryce took Isadora from Selene and walked away while holding Lyra’s hand as she told him about the bears and how Isadora had stopped them with her powers, leaving the two lovers to themselves.

Dominic took a seat on the swing, and Selene rested her head on his shoulder.

“How are things going in the realm?” he asked, playing with her hair.

“Pretty cool. Marlene has completed her training and can handle most things there now. Plus, she has the gods on her side. The hardest and trickiest ones will be handed over to me, so…”

Dominic faced her. “So?” he asked, and she smiled.

“So, I’ll be staying here with you for a while. We will raise our daughter together,” she said, and Dominic beamed. This was the best news yet. “There is a prophecy about her, and I need to train her. But for the meantime, we have to seal her powers.” Selene took in her bottom lip, waiting for Dominic’s reaction.

Dominic blinked. “What! Seal her powers?” he asked, his eyes widening in shock.

Selene held his arm. “I know this has come as a shock, but her identity as the daughter of the Moon Goddess must not be found out. When she is eighteen, the powers will return. By then, she should be able to handle it. She’s too young now.”

“We can train her to master her powers. And what prophecy are you talking about?” Dominic asked.

Selene sighed. “The Prophecy of the Moon Goddess’s Daughter.”

“But there has to be something we can do. You can’t just seal her powers. She will be devastated. And how are you going to train her if her powers are gone?”

“There is another way we can—”

“No, Selene,” Dominic sighed and held her hands. “Please. You know how much she loves her powers.”

“Those powers will only make her an easy target, my love.” Selene placed her palm on his cheek. “I’m not taking it away completely. She will have them back. For now, no one must know her real identity.”

“But… why?”

“Because the prophecy foretold of—”

The ground under their feet suddenly shook, cutting Selene off. Selene and Dominic stood to their feet, both exchanging confused glances. Lightning rippled across the sky like it was going to tear it in two. The sky thundered and darkened.

“What’s happening?” Dominic asked, but before Selene could say anything, Apollo appeared, his expression grim.

Selene rushed to him. “What’s going on?”

Apollo lowered his head. “Ares has escaped Tartarus.”

Selene and Dominic gasped. “How is that possible? No one can escape Tartarus.” Dominic ruffled his hair.

“Exactly. And for Ares to have escaped, it means there is something we do not know. Zeus has asked us to find him, and he demands that you lead us, Selene.”

Dominic couldn’t believe this. “C’mon, she just got back. We have a daughter to raise.”

“I understand you,” Apollo sighed. “But Ares is free, and he is out there. The world wouldn’t be safe for anyone if we don’t find him.”

Selene bit down on her lower lip. She really wanted to be part of Isadora’s life this time, and now she was going away again. The look on Dominic’s face broke her heart even more. She took his hands and placed kisses on them. “I will be back before you know it. Ares probably hasn’t gone far.”

Dominic sighed but nodded in understanding. “Be careful out there.”

“I will.” She forced a smile and kissed him. Apollo coughed awkwardly, and Selene smiled against Dominic’s lips. When they pulled away, she sighed. “There’s one last thing I need to do before I leave.”

She disappeared and appeared in Isadora’s room. The girl was sound asleep, her chest rising and falling slowly. Selene smiled and planted a kiss on her forehead.

She conjured a moon bracelet and put it around Isa’s wrist. “This will protect you from those seeking to exploit your powers. I will come back soon.”

Selene took one last look at Isadora. She knew Ares was after her.

And the sooner she found Ares and locked him up for good, the sooner she could stop that prophecy from coming into fulfillment.
