We invite you to join us as we celebrate the remarkable legacy of Herman Maritz of Deopharma through one of the languages he loved most: sport.

This special commemorative race is more than a walk, run or cycle. It is an opportunity for family, friends, colleagues and the wider community to come together in remembrance, gratitude and celebration of a life that continues to inspire.

Participants will have the opportunity to take part in Windhoek or virtually from anywhere in Namibia, allowing people across the country to honour Herman's legacy together.

To mark this occasion, a unique commemorative finisher's medal is being designed exclusively for this event. Each medal will serve as a lasting symbol of a life well lived, a race well run and a faith well kept.

Because these medals are being custom-produced specifically for this event, entries will close earlier than usual to allow sufficient time for manufacturing. We therefore encourage you to secure your entry as soon as registration opens.

On 26 September 2026, we invite you to join us for the Herman Maritz Commemorative Race as we celebrate a life of faith, service, leadership and impact.

Through sport, we honour a man whose legacy continues to inspire family, friends, colleagues and the wider community. Whether you choose to walk, run or cycle, every step, every stride and every pedal stroke will be a tribute to a life that made a difference.

This is more than a race.

It is an opportunity to come together, reflect, remember and celebrate.

Participants can take part in Windhoek or virtually from anywhere in Namibia, ensuring that no matter where you are, you can be part of this special occasion.

Namibia may be small in population 🌍, but our heart ❤️, determination 💪 and fighting spirit 🔥 are larger than life.

This weekend, Namibians from all walks of life 🇳🇦 will stand shoulder to shoulder on the start line in Durban 📍, ready to take on approximately 87 kilometres of sweat 😅, pain 😬, determination 💪 and glory 🏅 all the way to Pietermaritzburg 🏁.

Lingering too long on past wins can hold you back from achieving even greater things.” I think the same can be said about moving on from setbacks and losses too.

🚴‍♂️🌟 Meet Izak, our youngest athlete in the 5 x 5 Virtual Challenge at just 12 years old! 🌟🚴‍♂️

While many 12 year olds are busy mastering video games 🎮😅, Izak was busy conquering kilometres!

Over just 5 days, he completed an impressive 100 km on his bicycle. 💯🚴‍♂️🔥 That's 20 km per day, every day!

His determination, discipline, and positive attitude inspired the entire group. In fact, he motivated so many of us that the group unanimously voted to award him a Namibian Traders shirt as a special recognition of his effort and commitment. 👕🏆👏

I have had the pleasure of riding with Izak on our Sunday rides, and one thing is certain: this young man has a very bright future ahead of him. 🌟

What stands out is not only the distance he covered, but the example he set. Leadership is not about age. Leadership is about action. And Izak showed all of us what consistency, commitment, and a positive mindset can achieve. 💪✨

The rest of us may have bigger bicycles, longer legs, and a few more years of experience, but somehow Izak still managed to make us look lazy! 😂🚴‍♂️☕😅
