Here comes my freshly restored spirit level.

This time, I also had to recalibrate it. To secure the glass vial with the bubble, I used a linseed oil putty that I made myself by mixing chalk with linseed oil varnish.

The previous reflective element (foil) had been badly worn by time, so I replaced that as well. Finally, I treated the body of the level with Avalon Arbeitsplattenöl, a moisture-resistant oil.

I cleaned these lasting pliers, and underneath the layer of rust I found a stamp with the Three Crowns and the mark H L.K.
I tried to find at least some information about the maker, but unfortunately I couldn’t find anything. If anyone knows who the manufacturer might be, I’d really appreciate if you could share!

Sharing a few more photos of vintage tools I recently rescued from rust at a flea market.
Two saw tooth setters — one marked Peugeot Frères, made for a standard hand saw, and the other unmarked, designed for the teeth of a large saw.
I also came across a divider (compass) without any stamp.
It just so happened that I managed to free all of these tools from rust in a single session.

🇬🇧 Here are a few of the plane irons I picked up yesterday. I was especially thrilled to find one made by Herm Böker – such a rare catch in my tool hunts. In 11 years of collecting, I’ve only come across Herm Böker three times. Can’t wait to start cleaning off the rust and bringing them back to life.
