This card holds so many memories. One of my absolute favorites, Jolteon 037/088 from the Split Earth Japanese set, illustrated by Koike. 🧡

Released in 2002, this card isn’t just a piece of paper—it’s a connection to the past, a time when Pokémon cards were starting to experiment with new ideas, like the e-Reader technology. It was a way to bring the Pokémon world even closer, merging the physical and digital worlds in a way we hadn’t seen before. 📲✨

The art by Koike is pure energy. Jolteon looks like it’s about to leap off the card, a reminder of just how electrifying this Pokémon is. ⚡️

What makes this card even more special is the set it’s part of—Split Earth—one of those rare gems from the Japanese expansions. It’s not just about rarity; it’s about what these cards represent for me as a collector and Pokémon fan. 💎

ABOUT THE WORK
Daz Bonez, also known as Mr. 1, is a member of Baroque Works. Roronoa Zoro slashes at his enemy, whose body has the strength of steel.

The technique is known as Ittoryu Iai: Shishi Sonson.

The moment the drawn sword is sheathed is depicted dynamically at an angle from below. Zoro has his feet firmly on the ground, which appears bowed as if taken with a wide-angle lens. Behind the scabbards of the three swords, Mr. 1 can be seen collapsing to the ground, blood spraying vertically above him. Blood droplets of varying sizes float in the air like black soap bubbles. Echoing these bubbles, a round speech balloon floats in the air in the next frame, enveloping Zoro’s piercing words.

“I thank you,” says the voice in his heart. “I can still grow stronger.”

The sound of the sword’s guard hitting the scabbard reverberates softly, signaling the end of the struggle. The line of the sword held by Zoro smoothly transitions into the line of the ground in the large frame on the right. The movement of the blade and the depiction of the ground become one.

This work leaves a special kind of impact that only black-and-white manga is capable of expressing.

Unveiling the majestic Lugia Pokémon card ✨🌊
In Japan, this card was available as an Unnumbered Promotional card alongside Great Rocket’s Mewtwo and was included in copies of Pokémon Trading Card Game 2: The Invasion of Team GR!, released for the Game Boy Color on March 28, 2001. It features a “GB” symbol in place of an expansion symbol, referencing its ties to the title.

Like in a rodeo, Sanji rides on the back of a giant iguana, brandishing a black hat in his right hand. Luffy laughs and clings to the reptile’s neck.

The green rugged sand scaly surface of its body has been meticulously depicted. On the other hand, the inside of its mouth is bright blue, giving it the appearance of a mythical creature.

Chopper and Usopp are holding muskets pistols in both hands. Robin is smiling as she grips a Japanese sword in her right hand.

The broken billboards and windows make you wonder what has happened in this town. If you look at the roof of the building on the left, there is a huge sword is sticking out. Was it a fight between giants, or something else…?
