Kesar has a history more than 3500 yrs old. Since ancient time it is used in traditional medicine, fabric dye, perfumes, cuisines & in many religious purposes specially in India & Iran.
This Labour Intensive Harvested Spice is enriched with 28 volatile & aroma yielding compounds along with carbs,protein,manganese & water. 40 hours of labour needed to pick 150000 flowers equivalent to 1 kilo of fresh. The yield of dried spice from fresh saffron is only 13 g /kg. This phenomenon makes Zafran the costliest spice.

Assamese named this 'Bhot Zolakia'means'Bhutanese Pepper', Lovers made this 'Bhoot Zolakia means 'Ghost Pepper'.This hybrid chili variety with SHU +/- 1million also known as Umorok or Tree chili/Tezpur chili/Bih zolakia/Naga chili but the most common one is King Chili.
