The word 'Nidhivan' is a Sanskrit term which means the 'Forest of Treasure'. It is one of the sacred places in Vrindavan and it has always been in highlights for the mysterious activities. This is the site where Lord Krishna is believed to have performed Rasleela with Goddess Radha and his gopis 5,000 years ago. In fact, locals believe that Lord Krishna performs Rasleela every night, which is why the doors of the temple shut after the evening aarti, and everyone including the priests leave the premises. Even the trees in the surrounding forest are strange and mystical- the roots of the trees grow twisted and in pairs. It is believed these roots transform into Lord Krishna's gopis at night. Renowned historians and scientists have visited Nidhivan to unravel the mystery but all of them went away empty-handed. While the instances of Nidhivan remains a matter of debate but it is nevertheless a reflection of the rich culture and religious heritage of India.

According to Indian mythology, during Samudra Manthan, Lord Shiva swallowed the poison while his consort Goddess Parvati held his neck to prevent it from going into stomach. The poison turned his throat blue. This is how Lord Shiva came to be known as 'Neelkanth'. The blue-throat or 'Neelkanth' signifies that we do not always need to suppress or react to the vices. We sometimes need to modify the negativities and make them ineffective.

'Poila Baisakh' is the first day of new year according to the Bengali calendar. The exact origin of Bengali New Year is a much debated topic, but according to history, the Bengali New year came into existence as a result of an ordinance passed by the great Mughal emperor Akbar. The collection of agricultural taxes in accordance with the then prevalent Hijri calendar led to off-season tax due dates that did not coincide with the harvest season. This paved the way for the new agricultural year, along with the tradition of celebrating 'Poila Boisakh'.
___
This day is to shrug off the weariness of the world and be hopeful and positive and marks the beginning of the new year. It is not just about resolutions or greetings, it is more about the emotions, the euphoria, the age old culture of wearing new clothes, a lot of 'pronaam' and most importantly food. Above all, it is a day of fresh promises to oneself.

On this auspicious day, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our brand Golpo India ( .india ) today.

Shubho Nababarsha everyone!
