Have you heard of the Darom Adom Festival?
One of the amazing events that take place every year
is the Darom Adom - Scarlet South Festival.
Darom Adom is a 5-week festival
from the last week of January through the end of February.
During this time of year, thousands of anemones blossom in the northern Negev,
Huge fields are entirely covered by colorful anemones.
Because of this magnificent sight, an entire festival was created around this event.
This is the 15th year the Scarlet South festival is taking place, with a variety of activities for the whole family.
Tours, actors and activities among the flowers, markets and fairs, the traditional anemones parade,
all of this happening during this amazing time of year.
Have we already said that this is the best time to come to Israel?

Shavua Tov! And Happy Tu B’shvat 🌳🌳
When we were kids there was a song whose lyrics went like this:
"Thus walk the planters
song in the heart, spade in hand
from the city and from the village,
from the valley, from the mountain
on Tu Bishvat, on Tu Bishvat.

What has brought you planters here?
We strike the soil and the harvest
dig the marshes all around
in the mountain and the plain
on Tu Bishvat, on Tu Bishvat.

What will be here, planter?
Seedling will come in each hole
uncover until it spreads its shade
over our sad land
on Tu Bishvat, on Tu Bishvat." Tu Bishvat is a holiday of renewal and growth.
This song describes what is happening in Israel during Tu Bishvat.
Tu BiShvat is a great opportunity to go out into nature,
enjoy it and contribute to the environment.
Schools, gardens, companies and organizations
from all over the country,
have days that are organized for plants and trees to be planted.

We want to remind you a new way to support Israel 😊
We work in collaboration with JNF!
With every purchase of a treat box, you’ll get an option to pay for planting a tree
in the Holy Land.
A tree will be planted on your behalf,
and you will receive an authentic certificate from JNF

So why do we eat dried fruits in Tu B'Shvat?
Tu B’shvat is a holiday of renewal,
The original tradition was to eat fresh fruit.
In the past, there was no way to deliver fresh fruit to the Diaspora Jews,
so they had to dry the fruits in order to keep these fruits edible all the way from the Holy Land to the different countries in the Diaspora.
This is how the tradition of eating dried fruits was created ..
In our monthly box,
You will find a variety of dried fruits that will make you feel like you
are in the Holy Land.
Dried dates, apricots, orange peel, and roasted pecans
The link is in our bio, go and order the Tu B’Shvat box ..

This month, on the first day of the month of Shvat (27/01),
the state of Israel’s emblem was officially announced!
A shield with a menorah with seven-branched, and olive branches.
The symbol was designed by the brothers Gabriel and Maxim Shamir.
Their design was chosen among the 450 proposals submitted.
The Shamir brothers were inspired by Zachariah
"I saw a lamp of gold, seven candles upon it ... and two olive branches upon it" (Zechariah Chapter 4, verse 2)

So why do Jews celebrate Tu B'Shvat?
In the distant past, on this date farmers used to calculate their annual crop yield for the purpose of tithe, known in Hebrew as Ma’aser.
In those days in the Land of Israel everyone was a farmer, and fruits were considered wages.
Each farmer pledged to set aside tithe (this tithe, or Ma’aser, is a donation or tax worth one tenth of the total amount) of his annual yield for the benefit of the Priests, the Levites and the needy.
At this time of year, there are no longer fruits on the trees, so farmers can be certain that the fruits they have belong to a previous season.
Only the almond tree is in bloom, and it heralds the beginning of a new tax year.
Among the prominent customs of the holiday are eating fruit and planting trees.

Have a happy and fruitful new year! 🌳
