We are seeing a surge in requests for rolators and wheelchairs. Over the last few days the vans have been very busy doing regular collections and deliveries as well as delivering out mobility equipment.

With our small number of staff, we are finding it incredibly difficult to keep up with the demand for delivering mobility equipment on top of our usual collections and deliveries.

We can only provide them free of charge by in store collection. That is the only way we can sustainably continue on our mission to give people free mobility equipment.

At the end of the day, we do not get any grants or reductions on rates. We have rent and rates to pay as well as staff, tax and bills. We also bring cancer sufferers to their appointments. Our main transport service is suffering because we are over committing on mobility equipment.

If you wish to help fund our services you can shop in our stores or you can donate online but buying a random book.

People have been asking us if there was a way they can donate to us online to help fund our services. Our payments provider do not allow us to take donations. It is a requirement that online payments are for tangible goods.

We have found a way around this. We are introducing the Random Book Corner. We will post a random book to you in exchange for a €10 minimum fee. You can choose the price you want to pay for the book. We also give you the option to specify preferences for the book such as category, author etc.

You can purchase random books at the following link. Every random book will help us deliver mobility equipment and bring people to their appointments.

We had a chain of equipment deliveries today. We first dropped off a rolator to a family. The family donated a shower chair and a powered wheelchair. We then went out to pick up a tri wheeled rolator.

It turned out Bart had fund raised for her grandson a long time ago. The woman mentioned that her wheelchair wasn't suitable for her any more so we offered her the powered wheelchair we had in the van. She was delighted.

We are on the way to Gorey now to drop off the tri wheeled rolator for a woman who is collecting it from our store.

We need to keep the donations of bric a brac coming into our stores. Please like and share to help us get the word out about our free services. We need mobility scooters, shower chairs, wheelchairs and rolators. We pay to get mobility scooters serviced and fixed. If the battery is that we will still take them.

Thank you Gerald for dropping this into our Gorey shop today. Also thank you to the people who dropped two brand new rolators to our Wexford shop. We had a record breaking week sourcing mobility equipment.

We need a shower stool for a 104 year old woman who has been in contact with us. Can anyone help us with this?

If you want to support the work we do, we always need donations of bric a brac, clothes and furniture to sell in our shops.

We are looking forward to what next week brings. Thanks to everyone who has made this such a good week!

A few people are commenting on our posts that the HSE do provide rolators and wheelchairs through an occupational therapist. In most cases when you see an OT you get the equipment you need relatively quick.

The problem is getting an appointment with an OT. You can be waiting in some cases years to see an OT. People with mobility problems end up stuck at home, relying on people to help them get even the very basics.

Yes the equipment we provide people for free might not be exactly what they need but it gets them out of the house. It let's them get their lives back while they wait for a broken system.

We are really grateful for the people who donate wheelchairs, mobility scooters and rolators. We now have a waiting list on these items and we really don't want a waiting list. If you have any of these freedom givers please let us know.
