Some very special bears left the sewing room table this week. A very personal project saw me make a “Billy Bear” for each of the Dennison grandchildren, made from their grandad’s clothes.

Can't think of a better start to the day than to introduce you to Beara Bears which are made by Kenmare designer Tessa Dennison. The cute little bears started life as a side line to a patchwork exhibition at the Carnegie Arts Centre and a way of using up all those little scraps of fabric left over from larger projects - and because of this no two bears are the same. Lockdown came and the range expanded! Beara bears now come in three sizes Beag, Lár and Mór with prices from €30 for a small off the shelf bear.
Tessa also makes memory bears using items of clothing from a loved one that has passed away or favourite pieces of clothing, and her work can be seen on madeinkenmare.com.

Ive one Christmas bear left for local delivery only. €40. He’s 26cm tall and made from four different Christmas patterned fabrics. If you live in or near Kenmare and you like to snap him up, DM me.

Fulfilling my button obsession. I use 6 buttons for each bear - two for the eyes and then 4 to secure the limbs. A lot come from my vintage stash but I’m always in the look out for more!
