What a wonderful turn out in difficult conditions. Our guest of honour Darragh Linnane with the help of Gort Scouts commenced our communities Christmas festivities turning on our lights.
Thank you to Amy Ni Cárthaigh & friends for the wonderful music, to Music Generation Galway County for creating a brilliant athmosphere, to Gort Fire & Rescue for everything they do for us all every day and to all our hard working Elves for coming up trumps yet again.
So many people to thank and we'll get around to you - don't worry.

Delighted that our legend Darragh can join us with his family this evening to assist the Gort Scouts to turn on our Christmas lights for 2025.

Darragh has had a really tough 2025 and beyond, fighting the big fight against kidney cancer.
We kept his VIP visit quiet till now to be sure he was up for it.

Wrap up warm and dry and come give Darragh the huge cheer he entirely deserves.

8.30am to 5pm long day for the Elves. So much work done and we apologise for the traffic disruptions.
Lanterns and street crossings raised all in place.
Church Street and reconnections left to do.
All set for Nov. 30th
Massive thank you to Leonardo Gomes of Anderson Painting for giving up his Saturday to help.
Also a big thanks to Mary and Sullivans-Hotel Gort for the lunch and Vaska of O'Connor's Bakery Gort for the mince pies.
