⭐🚲 Bike of the Week - our first mid-drive e-bike 🚲⭐

This Trek Verve 3 e-bike got the works to get back to tip top condition. An equivalent new bike would be easily €3,000

4000 km sounds like a lot, but would be about 1.5 years of commuting for me. And the motor was only running for about 45% of the time the bike was moving.

We plugged it into the diagnostics and ran all available tests and printed it all off for the future owner to have.

Do drop in to us to see it, test it, or ask any questions.
And hopefully just the first of many more mid-drive bikes we recondition.

This month I particularly like the report from about what makes a good battery and a bad battery - and how hard it can be to judge from the outside πŸ”‹πŸͺ«

Head over to the Rediscovery Centre website to sign up for our monthly newsletter to be the first to hear about new courses, comment or message as well for any extra help as well

🚲 Bike of the Week / Rothar na SeachtaineπŸ€
Near-new Orbea Carpe with hydraulic brakes

Needed a lot of spokes replaced in the back wheel, and a new derailer hanger, as well as our usual strip and 170+ point checklist.
But now it cycles good and smooth, and stops on the spot.

Available for purchase

πŸ“ΈπŸ”Ž The inside of a Schrader Valve πŸ’¨πŸ›ž - Was doing some close-up photography of different teaching aides I've made, and hoping to have videos that illustrate them even better finished and posted very soon.

A philosophy I'm trying to work into my teaching more and more - no part of the bike should be a black box. If you don't really know what is going on inside, it will only make it harder to understand how it works or why it isn't working

πŸ• It is well overdue that I actively re-engage with social media, and in a bicycle-specific way to contribute to the wealth of online knowledge that I owe a large part of my career to (and to not bombard my non-mechanic/cyclist contacts with bike content!) 🚲

Planning to post lots of everyday oddities we come across in the workshop, some of the various teaching aides I’ve created and will create, my on-going experiments, and anything else I have time for. Let's see how this goes! ✊
