Big shout out to my newest top fans! đ Handknitsby Linda, Celine Fallon, Johnny Martin, Howard Grehan
I know Facebook does the whole âTop Fansâ thing, and itâs lovely to see the names popping up⌠but really, this is just a thank you to everyone who keeps supporting us â¤ď¸
The people who like the posts, share them, comment, tag someone, tell their neighbour, turn up on the day, buy from the stalls, bring the kids down, ask how they can help, or even just say âfair playâ when they meet us.
Honestly, it all helps.
Weâre only a small voluntary committee, and weâre trying our best to bring a bit of life back into the west side again. Not in a flashy way. Just slowly, properly, and with heart.
Connaught Street and the west side have so much history. Families, businesses, music, sport, old stories, old buildings, parades, community, neighbours looking out for one another⌠all the things that made this side of town what it was.
Weâre not trying to create something from nothing. Weâre just trying to remind people of what was always here.
Over the last three years; weâve had markets and family fun days, live music, alpacas, street theatres, treasure hunts, parades, football tournaments, heritage events, culture days, piwtey conner and information nights, guest speakers, outdoor games and a sensory tent; clean ups, planting, painting, tidying, fixing, planning⌠and probably a fair bit of panicking behind the scenes too đ
But every single thing we do is done with the same aim â to bring people back down this side of town, to support local, to make use of the spaces we have, and to give people a reason to feel proud of the west side again.
So to our top fans, our regular supporters, our vendors, volunteers, local businesses, musicians, families, neighbours and everyone who has backed us in any way at allâŚ
Thank you.
We see it. We appreciate it. And we donât take it for granted!
Bit by bit, weâre getting there.â¤ď¸

Bringing life back to the west side!
