Hello everyone!

I will open a batch order soon (25th September), bringing some coffee lineups from Indonesian Roasters; from The Espresso Embassy of Jakarta and Panna Coffee of Semarang.

Meanwhile, I have a referral program and if you sign up and your friends use your code, you can get up to 8% discounts. If you are interested, can you register here first?šŸ˜„

Further information is special for all followers:
I will open the order from the 25th of April to the 4th of May and process it on the 5th of May. The coffee will arrive by the 17th of May. More info will follow🤫

Why these roasters? Personally, they provide quite unique coffee taste notes and it reminds me of how coffee can be not coffee🤣. I like acidic & wild-tasting coffee and so I had fun with these roasters.

Manifesting positivity, help me to graduate :D!

Participants needed for my final year thesis - survey & interview - about coffee! More info in the survey form.

Took me a while to come up with the topic and this will not be possible without the support of Brunei’s coffee community, my passion to expand coffee knowledge in Brunei and my research supervisor.

Share this with your friends, fam, uncles & aunties, whose coffee is part of your daily routine. For those comfortable answering in Malay, you are also welcome to participate.

[A post about my hometown KB; calling for help from our coffee community]

I'm happy many independent bakeries & cafes sprung up around KB these past few years, adding characters to our dying town. In my opinion, they help to energise the surrounding businesses, especially in these dull enclaves before. The sheer curiosity of humans to explore helps to live up the street.

I grew up here in this town, and it was so refreshing seeing these alleys become lively, like those in Seria. But for sure, in KB, this is still unique. Kudos to this humble micro bakery, . For sure, it is not accessible during this time around.

I love the bike outside and am pretty curious about the story behind it!

Just some things to be grateful for when the border is closed, but surely we need more than just these humble bakeries & cafĆ©s to give the colours we want or need—looking forward to a unique KB in the future 🄰

My usual protocol before grinding different beans. Just wanna make sure I want to fully capture the experience each origin has to offer. Oh and also my first post as a Gerobok Kopi. Renaming my ig handle to be better connected to my Johor root.

Gerobok means cupboard in Malay Johor. Hence I wish this account can help me to be more connected with my other Malaysian half. Living in Brunei my whole life makes me think what part of Malaysia/Johor can I bring to Brunei. And I think lately coffee has been part of how people identify me especially among my social circles. So I kind of want it too, to be connected with my Malaysian half in some form

Story about renaming my username to Gerobok comes back to the moment when my grandpa/grandma always mentioned something different in Malay than what I used to in Brunei. I remember, back then, when I first lived with my late grandpa in Segamat, Johor. He asked me to get something in the kitchen and then when I asked, ā€œMana?ā€, he then said ā€œAda dekat gerobok sana.ā€

Of course I am utterly confused by what it is supposed to mean. And later I learned that gerobok means cupboard. And the thing that asked me to get in the kitchen at that particular moment was Kopi Tenom, which he purchased from a trip to Sabah, after he visited my uncle there.

So that’s the short story of mine. I hope this account will slowly develop in the future. I will probably share a little bit about what I am doing other than drinking it. Slowly my life is occupied with coffee on a day to day basis and I felt like eventually I will do this for a living. Who knows right?

Gone gone you go🄲! My final moment with the last 18grams of Luis Anibal's Pink Bourbon.

Might've been the trickiest beans to brew to date. Have to tweak my grind size every time and it's hard to find a perfect one for each brewer. Brewing with the V60 was the hardest one, whilst the Moka pot is the best and forgiving though can be the hardest to accept for my acclimatised filter tongue.

I think I just got it right today with the Kalita with mild acidity uhu. Usually I get a strong bitter taste with V60. Probably something is wrong with my grind or even the water temp.? Idk but today is a just a perfect one.

First entry... Moka Pot!

It was my very first brewing gear. At first I wasn't very fond of it because heck ya it made a very bitter coffee until.. I know how to use it properly with heat and stuff + now I own a hand-grinder, it made so much sense why people love moka pot/espresso because I'm so sucked into the filter haha.

When it's done properly, you can taste the coffee so much better although each cup might taste a bit 'dirty' than a normal filter cup would do šŸ˜—

This video was taken today and I'm brewing Luis Anibal's Pink Bourbon from our local roaster

Hai, welcome to my page!

I got motivated recently to start a personal coffee sharing page after a year of contemplating whether my passion for coffee was a short one or a lifetime thing and I can say itsa a lifetime thing because:

1) I've spent too much on coffee and now I'm quite picky with what coffee I drink and care a lot more with my palate now than ever before. Usually I don't care what I consume for the sake of going through the day.

2) Passion reason: I believe crafted drinks have a lot of story behind it and are left unshared to the end consumer which still leaves people unaware of the reason why coffee (and any other crafted beverages) is expensive.

A lot of care is involved in the process from farming of coffee, roasting, tasting and even retailing of the coffee itself. It creates a kind of an ecosystem where everyone depends on it sooner or later.

I first didn't depend on the coffee industry, but heck you know, when your life started with coffee dosing, you know your life depends on it and it's hard to walk away now without having to sleep through it for 2 weeks (don't ask me how I know) the withdrawal stage.

Well that's quite long for an introduction, but I hope this page can be a page where I shared all my coffee experience, from a beginner perspective (I'm just about one year serious on coffee, please be gentle with me), sharing interesting coffee story around Brunei and perhaps selling some basic brewing gear for beginner to start their coffee journey!
