As the seasons change, fresh local produce comes into harvest, 🥒Short Snake Gourd offers a crisp, refreshing taste that helps beat the lingering summer heat, while local bananas replenish electrolytes and provide a natural energy boost. Visit the Lee Gardens Urban Farmers' Market this Friday and Saturday to experience the fresh flavours of the season.
✨Monthly Feature: Short Snake Gourd ✨
"Mouse Gourd" is a Cantonese nickname inspired by its short, rounded shape with pointed ends, which resembles a tiny mouse. A short variety of snake gourd, it has green skin with white stripes and can be either slender or rounded, typically measuring 10–20 cm in length.
✨每月主打產品：老鼠瓜✨
「老鼠瓜」是民間俗稱，因瓜身圓短、兩端尖細，遠看像一隻小老鼠而得名，可視為蛇瓜的短版品種，瓜身翠綠帶白紋，因品種各異，瓜形修長或圓短，長約10至20厘米。
夏秋為盛產期，老鼠瓜會長出漂亮的星形蕾絲白花，成熟時會由翠綠漸漸轉成金黃色，再變成赤紅色，又稱為「金芒果」，兼具食用與觀賞價值。味道似翠肉瓜，清甜可口，連皮去籽煲湯，或去皮切片清炒，或用炒蛋皆宜。
✨Monthly Feature: Local Bananas✨
During the summer and autumn growing season, it produces beautiful star-shaped white flowers with lace-like fringed petals. As it ripens, the skin gradually changes from green to golden yellow and then bright red, earning it another nickname, "Golden Mango". Valued for both its appearance and versatility in the kitchen, it has a mild sweetness similar to courgette. Enjoy it in soups with the skin on and seeds removed, or peeled and sliced for stir-fries and scrambled eggs.

本地農夫悉心栽培的香蕉，顏色和形態也各有不同，從濃郁、微酸果香到清甜，層次各有不同， 保留了大自然豐富多元風味。
牛奶蕉短少皮薄，口感軟滑似奶油；青皮蕉成熟時仍保持翠綠，質感軟綿，甜度高；大蕉外型粗壯，稜角分別，甜中帶微酸，肉色偏黃。部分農夫堅持保留古老品種，果肉中帶有天然大粒種子，風味原始獨特，最純粹的土地滋味。
Local Bananas
A World of Flavours
Locally grown bananas, carefully cultivated by farmers, come in a wide variety of shapes, colours and flavours. From creamy and mildly tangy to naturally sweet, each variety reflects the rich diversity of nature.
"Milk Bananas" have thin skins and a creamy, smooth texture with a delicate sweetness. "Green-skinned bananas" remain green even when ripe, with a soft texture and natural sweetness. Plantains are larger and more angular, with yellow flesh and a balanced sweet-tart flavour. Some farmers also grow traditional banana varieties that are less commonly found today, each with its own distinctive flavour and character.
