Salah Publishing proudly announces that the SALAH SERIES has been translated to Malayalam, the language spoken by over 36 million Indians in the State of Kerala.

This photo captures Dr Julia Theresa Kanhai presenting copies of the SALAH SERIES with the Head of the Indian Embassy in Qatar, His Excellency Ambassador Vipul.

On the left is Mr Riyas Kuyyodi Mammu, the Malayali translator who developed the new copies in his mother tongue - Malayalam.

Salah Publishing sincerely thanks the team for their hard work and dedication towards this project. Thank you for making our Guyanese company make history, by sharing our stories with the world.

On May 10, 2026 Dr Julia Theresa Kanhai had the joy of spending Mother’s Day in Guyana with the first woman who nurtured her writing skills - her mother.

Mrs Shekeela Annie Kanhai is the mom of 5 children and 6 grandchildren. Her eldest grandson is Salah - the legend behind the SALAH SERIES.

When her daughter was merely 7 years old, Shekeela noticed Julia’s love for writing poems and short stories, and kept the handwritten drafts for decades.

Now that her grandson is the same age, Shekeela enjoys reading stories inspired by Salah’s life, and hearing about the unfiltered versions over the phone.

Salah Publishing takes the opportunity to wish all mothers a Happy Mother’s Day, and to especially thank Shekeela for her love and support that helped birth an author.

On April 28, 2026 Dr Julia Theresa Kanhai met with the staff of the National Library in Georgetown, Guyana.

Dr Kanhai gifted copies of the SALAH SERIES, as well as copies of Ten Little Hermit Crabs and Pipkin the Squirrel’s 54321 written by 9 year old British Author, George Dower.

Dr Kanhai discussed ways in which she could support the library and its writing initiatives, and expressed her gratitude to the place that nurtured her love for reading as a child.

On Saturday 25th April, Dr Julia Theresa Kanhai held a book signing in Guyana, at The Book Barn in Massy Megastore.

The event was a major success, with almost 200 copies being sold, and children from all backgrounds being engaged.

Thank you to the friends, family, well wishers and the Honorable Vanessa Benn for making this event a memorable one.

On April 24, 2026, Dr Julia Theresa Kanhai presented copies of her children’s books to Guyanese author and Cultural Advisor within the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport - Mr Ruel Johnson.

Mr Johnson is a multiple award winner, including the Guyana Prize for Literature. He expressed his satisfaction with the SALAH SERIES and commended Dr Kanhai on her contribution to Guyana’s educational resources.
