THE PRINCE OF PEACE
A Story by Kingsley Alfred
Episode 1
The kingdom of Amadike was known throughout the land for its beauty, wealth, and peace. At the center of this prosperous kingdom was Prince Chidi, the only son of the aging king. Unlike many princes who dreamed of war and conquest, Chidi believed in unity, kindness, and justice. Because of his gentle nature, the people fondly called him "The Prince of Peace."
One bright morning, Chidi rode through the village market, greeting traders and farmers. The people smiled whenever they saw him. Children ran after his horse, laughing and waving.
Among the crowd stood Kenneth, a young scholar who had recently returned to the kingdom after years of studying in a distant city. Kenneth was intelligent, confident, and admired by many. He watched as Chidi interacted with the villagers and couldn't help but be impressed.
"That is a prince who truly cares about his people," Kenneth said quietly.
Not far away stood Isaac, Chidi's childhood friend and personal guard. Isaac was brave, loyal, and always protective of the prince. He noticed Kenneth staring and approached him.
"You seem interested in the prince," Isaac said.
Kenneth smiled. "Only because I've never seen a royal behave with such humility."
Isaac nodded. "That's Chidi. He believes peace is stronger than fear."
Later that day, the king announced a royal gathering. Important leaders, scholars, and warriors from neighboring kingdoms were invited to discuss the future of Amadike.
To everyone's surprise, Kenneth was selected to represent the scholars. When he entered the royal hall, his eyes met Chidi's for the first time.
"Welcome to the palace," Chidi said warmly.
"Thank you, Your Highness," Kenneth replied.
As the meeting continued, Chidi was impressed by Kenneth's wisdom. Kenneth, in turn, admired the prince's vision for a peaceful kingdom. Isaac observed their growing friendship from a distance, wondering what role Kenneth would play in the future of Amadike.
Unknown to them, dark forces were already plotting against the kingdom. Hidden enemies believed that peace was a weakness and were preparing to challenge everything Chidi stood for.
As the sun set over the palace, Chidi stood on the balcony overlooking the kingdom.
"The future of Amadike depends on the choices we make today," he said.
Neither Kenneth nor Isaac knew that their lives were about to change forever.
