For 🎁 follow I provide meaningful wellbeing workshops and sensory experiences for care homes, vulnerable adults and community groups across Somerset and Dorset. My dementia-friendly workshops are desig

ned to support connection, confidence, calm and inclusion, because I believe people are so much more than their care needs. Over the years, I've noticed that people are often looking forward to the company just as much as the activity itself. Those conversations, shared smiles and proud moments are the part I love most. Whether I'm working with residents, families or individuals living at home, my focus is always the same.

Sometimes connection is quieter than you expect and I love seeing moments like this unfold!

My very first workshop in the brand new Sherwell Manor part of

There were only two residents living in the home at the time.. so the lovely carers joined in! 

This just gave so many amazing benefits for the care home as a whole..

✨️ They had a shared experience to talk about later- giving them a good talking point with this lovely resident
✨️ She felt that sense of community around her, there's nothing like all joining in and doing a craft together 
✨️ The carers got to learn a bit more about each other and do something different- a good team is a happy team!
✨️ At the end they all had a pillow to take  away! The other resident there was having a rest in her room, so everyone chose a pattern she would love and took it to her to help her sleep! Everyone became a part of it.. isn't that JUST BEAUTIFUL?

How do you know friendships have grown?
How do you know they've enjoyed themselves?

Connection between humans isn't always in the loudest moments, sometimes sitting next to someone and watching the world go by can be the best afternoon you've ever had.

When I run my workshops, each resident responds differently. Some say nothing during the actual workshop but then hug me and say they've had the best time, others chat throughout. What makes these sensory activities for elderly residents unique is they can work either way, tending to each individual need.

What's most important for me is that these are seen as calming group activities for seniors, not craft, sewing or lavender workshops. They are all those things too yes, but that's not what it's about.
It's about creating a calming, soothing place for friendships to thrive and conversation to be made. The fact that all the other elements are in there, is what makes it unique.

Last week, we were delighted to welcome Tara from Fabric Sewn Beautiful back to Potter House! 💐

Our residents had a wonderful time getting creative together, making beautiful decorative vases. It was a lovely afternoon filled with smiles, laughter, and plenty of artistic flair.

A huge thank you to Tara for another fantastic session. We always look forward to seeing you and can't wait for your next visit! ❤️

Ok, not JUST puzzles & scrabble games..

In this workshop we were decorating canvas's with scrap pieces of fabric! Doing something creative with your hands is extremely therapeutic.

These workshops are very much a sensory activity for elderly residents.
🩷Dementia Friendly
🩷Filled with gentle decision making
🩷Calming

✨I run these in care homes across the Somerset and Dorset
✨I can also do this in your home with your loved one!

Don't get me wrong, board games have their place, but there is something so freeing and childlike about creating a master piece with just glue and fabric.

With some of these residents nearing 100.. could you imagine doing this in 60 years time?
