Here’s a little introduction to Lillian May Vintage 🏺
My name is Chantelle, I run this page and business. (I also run a dog treat bakery Sniffalot Treats 🐾) Lillian May was my Great Grandma ❤️
She was born in 1914 and had wonderful memories of times gone by that she would tell me about. I loved sitting on her lap listening to all her stories 🥰
She has this amazing wooden and glass fronted display cabinet….you know those ones that no one is allowed to touch. Well….little me used to open it and say Nan let me just have a look….with a smirk she’d say go on then sparrow (she used to call me this which I still think is cute lol) but don’t you go breaking anything!
I LOVED IT! She had crystal bells that would ding and wooden carved ornaments, tea sets and all sorts of wonderful items. Even though I looked at them weekly, I’d still be fascinated every time I got to open that door to the cabinet 😊 it had such a lovely wooden smell.
In her bedroom she had this absolutely amazing wooden jewellery box. It was heavy and so amazingly carved. It was a present from her husband from India. I loved running my fingers over the carvings thinking wow someone had really taken time to do all this and I just thought how amazing it was. I think that’s why now I love all things wood! My actual house is filled with it 🤣
So that’s where my fascination for all things vintage stemmed from, so it was only right that this business was named Lillian May Vintage in honour of such an amazing woman ❤️
Here’s some photos of my lovely Nan. Who I still love to this day. She passed away when I was 18 and I often wish I had more time with her as she was just amazing. The last picture is of my Nan and her husband, she loved him dearly, I never got to meet him as he died in a work accident in the mines if I remember correctly. She stayed true to her husband and never had another man in her life after he died ❤️
The song I’ve added to this post from Daniel O Donnell, we used to go on holiday with my Nan and her son, my Great Uncle Royston, and on the way in the car we’d have all the songs of Daniel O Donnell playing. Wow….hearing this songs brings back memories and yes….i maybe having a little tear writing this ❤️
