Heard Pigeon Detectives mentioned on the radio yesterday so thought I'd give this one a spin today. Good bit of pop, I reckon. Lovely looking record, too.

Most of the pictures I post are of what I'm playing at work. The reason I don't post many pictures of the home record player is that it's in the kitchen/diner, and the only way to take a picture without the kitchen as a backdrop is from above, which I find a bit annoying to do. So here's a rare picture from the front, with the cow for support.

I love Tango In The Night. It sounds really 80s but in an unmistakably Fleetwood Mac way, and the title track is one of my favourite Mac tracks. But there's not really a bad track on it I don't think.

Loved this album as a kid and played it loads. My favourite song was always No Woman, No Cry, and I know nobody'll agree with this but I still prefer it to the original. I love the drums, the bassline; the Fugees making it theirs.

Another album I loved as a kid (well, young adult, but... kid) was Dre's 2001 and let me tell you, that's a piece of s**t compared to The Score. I've listened to it through a couple of time recently and I still know most of the lyrics, but almost wish I didn't.

But that's the beauty of music isn't it. Take what you want, like what you like, tastes will change and yours is your own.

I was thinking earlier that I reckon 7" singles were probably a better investment than LPs, because they've repressed most of the good albums and will continue to so so, but they're never gonna repress singles. And I know that there's a difference between a recent repress and a first press of some 90s classic, for example, but the fact that you can get hold of a new copy of things means you have a choice, whereas there's a limited number of copies of any given single and there's never gonna be more made.

The reason I was thinking that was because I put the Stereophonics' debut on and I used to have the 7" of A Thousand Trees, but I sold it - along with all my other singles - when we were expecting our eldest daughter. And I don't imagine that one would be worth anything now anyway (though I'm not gonna check, just in case) but I bet my blue Everlong would be. Again, not gonna check. And given the era we're talking about, I bet the collection would be worth an awful lot more now than what I got for it 14 years ago.

But anyway. Good debut this.

This record was on my To Buy list for so long, but for no particular reason it took me years to actually buy it. But now I finally have it. It's a real beauty of an album and it sounded really good being played loud before anyone else got into work this morning.

I say 'no particular reason' but I think the reason is just that I'd been looking out for a first press. I dunno why really. But I decided in the end that it didn't matter, and grabbed a recent repress for next to nothing. Win.

I haven't played a record in about three weeks but this one arrived a couple of days ago and I've been looking forward to putting on.

I really like these This Feeling records. They come out once a year and showcase some of the UK's best up and coming acts. If you like discovering new music then these are a must have. Although I missed last year's, which is irritating.

I was asked to make a version of my Now Showing DVD and Blu-ray frame big enough to hold a standard US Letter size sheet of paper, for an independent senior living facility where they show a monthly schedule of films. They wanted a frame for their lineup each month.

I made it so it'll work with a standard A4 sheet too (which is what's shown in the video). It has screw holes in the back so it can be mounted on the wall, and slots are so Command Strips can be used if they can't screw into the walls.

What do you think?

Bit of morning Mogwai today. I've only fairly recently realised what I'd been missing with Mogwai, so these are the only two I have so far. If you're a Mogwai fan, what would you recommend I get next?

I put some CDs up on the left-hand Kallax yesterday and quite like them there, so I think I'll do the same on the right. Which just leaves the tapes needing a home. (And the rest of the CDs, but I'm gonna pretend that's not a problem for now.)

22-20s were a local band, coming from just down the road from where I live, and they were doing pretty well in the early to mid 00s but then broke up after their first album - this one - which charted at number 40 in the UK. They got back together a few years later, then broke up again after another album and a few gigs. I saw them play at a local festival and they were really bloody good. I picked this CD up from a charity shop last year and then forgot about it, but just gave it a play and... really bloody good.

Did a bit of tinkering with my Marantz CD-54 over the weekend because it wasn't reading discs properly, and I'm pleased to report it's working much better now.
