Here's a nice bit of amplifier history for you from my personal collection.
This is the Crate CR-1, from 1978, sold by St Louis Music. They were designed by Gene Kornblum after visiting a Crate & Barrel store in Chicago, where he saw that all the products were displayed in packing crates.
The cabinet is made from Ponderosa pine, and houses a 12 inch speaker with a 20 watt solid state amplifier section.
This was the first Crate amplifier ever made, and kicked off a short lived series of amplifiers using the same packing crate style cabinet.

There was something about this old bass that said, rescue me. So I did.
It's been heavily modified, with 2 extra pickups added along with a plethora of control k***s.
This Avon has certainly got some stories to tell.
My plan, rewire it, retain the character, and make it a flexible recording bass.
It has a bit of a John Birch vibe to it, like something Jimmy Lea or Geezer Butler would've played back in the day. Bostin'!
One more for my collection of unloved and unwanted oddball instruments.

When my father told me he'd got me a couple of pedals, I wasn't expecting this.
A late 60s Hornby-Skewes silicon treble booster; the very pedal used by Richie Blackmore on Deep Purple's Machinehead.
The key to one of my favourite guitar tones ever!
I can't believe how clean it is, I feel like I've won the guitar pedal lottery.
Just off to plug an S style guitar into it, and then into a Marshall.

Aloha to the Bellini Hawaiian dancer acoustic.
Quite the unique instrument, with its arched top and round soundhole.
These were made in South Africa in the 50s/60s and are "guaranteed not to split"
It has a timbre of its own, and should be amazing for recording.
As my Hawaiian friends would say, it's cherry 🍒
My kitsch acoustic guitar shaped hole in my guitarsenal is very much satisfied.

Up early this morning to do a road trip for this beautiful old thing.
Just loaded the Kustom Hustler into the boot, and it'll be off home for a full restoration.
This is a white whale of an amp in the UK owing to the limited amount that were imported during the short life of Kustom Amps under Bud Ross.
The tuck n roll is a bit road worn, and the circuit needs a look over and a service. But I couldn't be happier.
Swampy roots tones are in my future.

I reported it, with a link to the real listing on eBay and was told it didn't violate Vinted's policies.
There's a clear lack of vetting and screening going on here.
Be careful out there, this is the second fraudulent advert I've seen on Vinted recently.
