Adding final details to the home themed bag charm/key clip. There’s a rose garden, veggie plot and tall cottage garden flowers. Just adding a little pathway as the finishing touch.

I have a new blog post/news story on my website. It's all about a commission piece I completed earlier this year for a lovely customer who was looking for a special gift for her friend, who launched a new fantasy book last month.
Using the book cover as inspiration, the dragon brooch was such a fun piece to design and sew, as it made me think outside the box (which I love!).
I've popped the link in the first comment box if you'd like to read the story.
The new book, The Rainshadow Orphans, written by Naomi Ishiguro, is now available to purchase - links on where to order the book have been added to my news story post.

So lovely to see my completed storybook brooch heading to a new home so quickly. This brooch has been in the making for quite a while and at one point I wasn’t sure if it was coming together or not! I’m so pleased I persevered as I was really happy with the final version.

I’ve finished sewing my brooch with a story book theme and have taken product photos today - just going through them all now. Aiming to have this newbie listed online tomorrow 🤞

… and here we are at Friday again … the weeks seem to fly by! I’ve been off “normal” work this week so I’ve spread my time between gardening, sewing and a few trips out. Each morning I’ve been greeted by a row of beautiful red poppies (the bees are loving them) and each evening their petals have blown away. Plenty of flower buds to go yet before they finish for good though. I hope your week has been lovely and you’ve had some time to enjoy the sunshine.

This story book themed brooch is also on my sewing table and I’m slowly building the design. Sketched ideas don’t always transfer so well when the sewing begins, I’ve found 😁, but I’m enjoying the process of adding extra details. Today, it’s “bark” stitches on the imposing tree trunk and branches.

I’ve been working on this little key fob the last couple of days - here’s my process of stitching a background for a line of sequin and seed bead “roses”, finishing with dark green French knots.

I'm back in my sewing room this week as the weather's returned to being a little dodgy! Continuing with two items, a house and cottage garden key fob and a book themed brooch. For the brooch, I've stitched a couple of pine trees, which blend in a little with the green background, so I've also added metallic green thread branches to give them a little pop. The idea for this brooch is to build a book cover style background following a magical, mystical theme.

These striking blue flowers are looking absolutely stunning in my garden this year. I’ve been quite surprised how well the entire garden is doing actually, despite the severe lack of rain. A plant is app thinks this is “Scrambling Gromwell”, but it’s not 100% sure 😃 - it’s a stunner though 💙
