πŸ’œ A special thank you πŸ’œ

This week, Philippa, one of our Reablement Occupational Therapists, and Catherine, a Senior Support Worker from Wiltshire Support at Home, were touched to receive a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a thank you card from a customer's family.

The kind gesture was given in recognition of the support, compassion and reassurance they provided during a particularly difficult time. It is a reminder of the difference our teams make every day, supporting people and their loved ones when they need it most.

Thank you to Philippa and Catherine, and to all our Reablement and Wiltshire Support at Home colleagues, for the care, kindness and dedication you show every day. 🌸

✨ Meet Karen ✨

Karen is one of our newest Support Workers in the West Team. Here's what she had to say:

"Hi, my name is Karen and I joined the Reablement West Team at Wiltshire Council four weeks ago. After 16 years as an Ofsted-registered Childminder, I decided it was time for a new challenge and a career in social care .

So far, I've really enjoyed my journey. I've completed e-learning, attended training, and shadowed experienced colleagues who have helped me build my skills and confidence. I now support customers in their own homes after a stay in hospital, helping them regain their independence and confidence.

I'm married with two daughters and a son, and I've had lots of support from my family as I start this new chapter. I'm excited to see where my career with Wiltshire Council takes me over the coming years."

πŸ’œ Please join us in giving Karen a very warm welcome to the team! We're delighted to have you with us!πŸ’œ

πŸŽ“πŸŒŸ A Huge Congratulations to Suzy! πŸŒŸπŸŽ“

After 16 years of aspiring to become an Occupational Therapist, Suzy from the South Team has officially graduated and achieved her goal through the Occupational Therapy Apprenticeship programme delivered in partnership between Wiltshire Council and UWE.

Reflecting on her journey, Suzy shared:

"After 16 years of wanting to study for a degree and qualify as an Occupational Therapist, I was thrilled when the Occupational Therapy Apprenticeship was launched in partnership between Wiltshire Council and UWE. Starting the course at the age of 40 brought a mix of excitement and apprehension, and there were certainly moments when I questioned what I had taken on. However, those doubts were outweighed by the sense of achievement that came with successfully completing each module and receiving strong results.

It was fascinating to learn the theory and science behind a role I had been carrying out for many years. My biggest challenges were adapting to new placement settings and completing my dissertation, but perseverance paid off. I achieved Certificates of Excellence on two placements and was delighted to receive a First-Class mark of 80% for my dissertation.

The apprenticeship has been a whirlwind of emotions, growth and learning, and I could not be prouder of what I have achieved. It has been a fantastic opportunity to develop my knowledge, skills and confidence, and I now look forward to starting my qualified role in a new team this September, helping more customers and supporting the Occupational Therapy vision for Wiltshire Council."

We are incredibly proud of Suzy and all she has achieved. Her dedication, resilience and commitment to both learning and supporting others is truly inspiring. We wish her every success in her new role this September! πŸŽ‰πŸ’œ

🌟 Supporting Future Talent at John of Gaunt School! 🌟

Acting TL Sam and Senior Support Worker Takysha recently visited John of Gaunt School to support Year 12 students with mock interviews.

The sessions gave students the opportunity to practise their interview skills, build confidence, and gain valuable experience ahead of future job applications and employment opportunities. By sharing interview tips and real-life experiences, they helped students feel more prepared for the world of work and the opportunities ahead.

We're proud to support young people in our community as they prepare for their future careers and take their next steps towards employment.

A fantastic way to inspire the next generation while strengthening connections with our local community. πŸ’œ
