It’s here! The Sunflower Colourwash Blanket 🌻

Golden petals, earthy centres, and a shifting gradient of colour; this vibrant blanket is inspired by the energy of a summer garden in full bloom. Featuring 56 sunflower granny squares with a choice of two colourwash layouts, this pattern builds up motifs using the join as you go technique, before finishing with a simple border and beautiful tassels.

With over 120 step-by-step photos and 2 video tutorials, I’ll be there every step of the way as you crochet your blanket. The pattern also includes a printer-friendly version of the instructions, and is available in both US and UK terms. The links in my bio have all the stats - meterage, finished size, all that jazz!

Forget Monday morning blues, and enjoy this Monday morning rainbow! 🌈

It’s the final day of these tester appreciation posts, and the turn of lovely Helen to enjoy the spotlight!

Helen chose these epic shades of Merino DK for her neon rainbow, and oh my goodness, it’s such a joyful explosion of colour!

I can’t help thinking of the Maya Angelou quote “be a rainbow in somebody else’s cloud” - to me, this is a palette of resilience, a beacon of pure positivity. I’m so proud of you Helen, and so proud of your blanket 🩷

These colours are making me grin from ear to ear.. Brilliant choice, Helen.. you smashed it! Thanks so much for all your help and support 🌈 🌻

Are you ready for the second tester appreciation post of the day?

You’d better be, because up next is ! Debbie didn’t make one blanket, or even two.. so here are her THREE!! 🤩

One of the many things I admire about Debbie is how bold she is with her colour choices. Before she even started the test, she already had two colour palettes lined up.. and nobody was surprised when a third followed soon after 😂

First up was her palette of dusty bright colours, that somehow remind me of sorbet.. I love how these colours work together, and the Wisteria border and tassels pull everything together perfectly!

Next, sunglasses at the ready for the bright brights! These yummy colours are just so summery. Such an inspired choice to drop the traditional sunflower colours and go all in with these tropical vibes - I’m in awe, Debbie!!

Last but not least.. a mirror image colourwash in pretty purples, running dark to light and back to dark. I adore this colour fade.. and the contrast of the Primrose Yellow petals against the purple backdrop? Pure perfection!

I have nothing but admiration for Debbie and her lightning-fast hook.. not only does she create beautiful works of art, but she also has such a great eye for detail when it comes to testing patterns, and I always look forward to her helpful feedback. Thank you so much, Debbie! 💜

In the tester spotlight this morning is.. Jan ! 💜

This isn’t Jan’s first sunflower test for me.. in fact, she tested my Sunflower Lovers Cross Body Bag back in the summer of 2023 - I’ll have to dig out a photo to show you! I’m always excited when Jan volunteers to test, she makes such beautiful test projects! 😍

Jan picked one of my favourite yarns for her Sunflower Colourwash Blanket.. Pebble Haze DK. Picking out different shades of blues and purples was an inspired choice!

Running from dark to light blue, and from light to dark purple, Jan’s put together a seamless ombré palette. I adore how soft the colour transitions are! The contrast of the cool background shades against the warm yellow petals really makes those sunflowers pop, don’t you think? It looks like the petals are bathed in sunshine! ☀️

Today’s tester appreciation post is all about Kris 🙌

If there’s someone you can always rely on to plan an epic colour scheme, it’s Kris! With her trusty colour wheel in hand, Kris loves to get creative and put together bold palettes.. she has such a great eye for colour!

For the Sunflower Colourwash Blanket pattern test, Kris was torn between two colourwash palettes.. so as only Kris could, she combined them.. and it turned out amazing!!

Starting with a background gradient running from blue through teal to green, Kris then worked a second gradient with these gorgeously bright sunflower petals running from yellow, through orange and pink, to end with purple. Wow! This was such an inspired choice, Kris - your blanket is a masterpiece!! 🤩

Kris also added an extra round of the background colour for each square, to supersize her blanket 🩵

Thank you so much Kris for all your time and your help testing this, you’re a real superstar!

Into the spotlight next in my Sunflower Colourwash Blanket tester appreciation series is.. the lovely Marion ! 🌻

Marion chose a stunning gradient running from bold, fiery red, through soft, dusty pinks and warm, glowing peach through to beautiful burnt orange.. I LOVE the warmth of the colours and the contrast with the yellow sunflower petals, don’t you? 😍

Everything about this blanket screams sun-kissed summer heat to me.. and so taking her finished blanket for photos in the wildflowers was just *chef’s kiss* 🙌 Awesome job, Marion! I just love your blanket!

What a beautiful month May was! All that sunshine! ☀️

Back down to Earth with a bump, on this drizzly Monday morning. Last month just flew past, didn’t it?! So much so, that I forgot to post my month round-up yesterday 🙈

May was a month of pattern tests and tutorial filming for me.. as I have two designs ready to launch in June. The Sunflower Colourwash Blanket and Summer Shells Blanket Kit will both be out very soon. Yes, two blankets. In June. I know what you’re thinking! 🤪 But happy colours and beautiful shapes are always in season, right?!

This month I’m also hoping to finish my Delta Point Quilt and start a project from Ana-Maria’s new book, Interlocking Crochet. I’m so excited about both!

Since I’m knee deep in tutorials and editing right now, I thought I’d share a couple of sea shell close-ups with you.. I can almost smell the salty air!

It sounds like the forecast is back to usual (rain!) next week, so we’re planning one last trip to the beach in the sunshine today.. have to make the most of it, right? ☺️
