No fishing today, our boat has now found a new owner and is officially sold. So today I’m off to Padstow today to shelter from the bad weather that’s on its way.
Then to wadebridge boatyard next week to be lifted onto a lorry and away to her new home.

Mixed feelings selling this boat, it’s done so much for our family. Helped us survive financially through covid and the closing of Cornwall Creels.
It was the platform to start Perran Baits and in 4 years this has built into a family business that we are extremely proud of.

We’ve a new boat coming soon, a bit more comfortable for me to work and rigged for the winter mackerel once we have it..

Storm Darragh, the boats in Hayle rather than St Ives for a few days.
Fingers crossed everyone’s boats will be ok through the weekends storm. Hopefully back fishing next week if we can find some mackerel to catch after the storm stirs the water up.

After what felt like 9 months of winter and a particularly difficult mackerel season for weather we are back. No real updates through the winter to put on the page as we are packing mackerel pretty much daily, safe to say though I’m glad it finally stopped raining.

So it now seems summer has arrived (at last) and we have with our first decent eels for processing. Absolute gold and superb quality eels, packed while still alive for the best, freshest eel we can supply.

We are planning on having live eel available again soon after the popularity of this last summer. Keep an eye on the page for availability.

With the sea temperature being high it’s far better for the fish to get them iced as soon as possible. Blast frozen in a matter of hours from leaving the sea.
